Soupdragon is a poster on here who makes flapjacks with condensed milk I think. You can probably Google her recipe.
I use the one from the dairy book of home cooking.
The trick I have found is not to make them to thin or overcook them.

There was a poster called soup dragon who has an amazing flapjack recipe using condensed milk. It's the best one I've found. I think she must have named changed as I can't @ her. But if you google 'soup dragons flapjacks' it comes up.

I do 6oz butter, melt in a pan then add 3oz Demerara sugar & a couple of tablespoons of golden syrup, then keep heating in the pan with the butter until it’s very bubbly. I put that over 8oz of oats (the value ones in Tesco work fine!), mix in & put the mixture in a square baking tin. I bake it at 160C for 18 minutes, then leave it to cool completely (usually overnight) before cutting into squares.

Melt butter sugar and syrup the stir in oats and squidge into a well buttered and foil lined tin. Oven on gas 2 (150 degrees) for 45 mins (ish) they should just be a light golden brown and they will feel very soft when they come out but they'll harden as they cool.

Old BeRo recipe my mum and gra ndma used.

2 tblspoons golden syrup
4 ozs demerara sugar
6 ozs butter
8 ozs oats.

I am tucked up in bed with the lurgy so can't check my book but deaconblue posted this a few years back and it looks good to me.
I use the Dairy book of Home Cooking one and it is always lovely.
100g butter
75g golden syrup
75g soft brown sugar (your caster sugar will be ok but get soft brown for next time)
225g oats
I always use half as much again though as I make it in a brownie tin.
Melt the first three ingredients in the microwave.
Put the oats into the melted mixture and stir.
Press into the tin.
(mine is silicon, you will need to line/grease a metal one)
. I cook at 180 for about 20-25 mins, I take it out when it's only just starting to change colour as we like ours chewy, leave it longer if you want it a bit more crunchy.
When you take it out of the oven cut it into squares but leave in the tin til totally cold otherwise it will fall apart.

Grumpbum123 · 17/11/2018 15:48

I always use the one with condensed milk

hugoagogo · 17/11/2018 15:49

I prefer them as they are, but ds and dh like it when I spread some chocolate on the top. The easiest way is to pour some chocolate chips on the flapjack as soon as it's out of the oven, leave for five minutes, the spread with an off set spatula.

ElizavetaBathory · 17/11/2018 16:01

Sounds amazing

ElizavetaBathory · 17/11/2018 16:02

That's blatantly just because I don't want to lose the recipe again.

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 17/11/2018 16:32

You have to do the condensed milk ones! I made some for a cake stall and had the WI ladies coming over and asking what the recipe was as they were so good
