What are you proud of but have no right to be?

Things I’m proud of but actually have no business being proud about....

My children are never ill (touch wood). Winters come and go and my two don’t so much as get the sniffles.

My children eat incredibly well, will devour a plate of veg happily.

My son is an exceptional sportsman. My daughter is incredibly popular and well liked by children, adults, teachers.

I had a very privileged childhood. Private school, beautiful home, very wealthy father.

(Why the heck am I “proud” about this? Had bugger all to do with me. But there we go, I freely admit I have no right to be proud of any of this list).

I have lovely thick healthy hair

Things I am proud about and perhaps can justifiably feel pride:

Returned to work after 9 years sahm to a good well paid job

Single mum of two young children and no family support network whatsoever. And I do well at balancing without without getting (too) stressed

A wonderful group of friends that I have kept from school, work and made since having children

I’m very fit and run 4/5 x a week

I would love to hear others.

If you’re proud of it, jusiftifed or not!

Sorry to piss on your chips OP but this thread is so cringeworthy! Blush

Introverted1 · 19/11/2018 22:34

You’re more polite than me @CallMeOnMyCell

OP, this thread makes you sound like a cunt

NotUmbongoUnchained · 19/11/2018 22:36

How insecure do you have to be to think someone is a “cunt” for being proud of a few things in their life?

Introverted1 · 19/11/2018 22:40

If you can’t work out what’s wrong with this thread then there’s no hope for you @NotUmbongoUnchained

NotUmbongoUnchained · 19/11/2018 22:42

You’re the one with the problem, clearly.

Of course, on mumsnet, everyone must be miserable, self deprecating and snide thought mustn’t they?

Introverted1 · 19/11/2018 22:46

Nope. I’ve been on MN circa BM (Before Moldies)

There are good uns, bad uns and the ones that gives you splinters on your arse.

This thread is a cunty one.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 19/11/2018 22:48

Yeah yeah.

JeezYouLoon · 19/11/2018 22:52

I can't decide whether the feeling on this thread is proud or smug Confused

MrSlant · 19/11/2018 22:54

I can reverse park my car into any space, on either side of the road, that is minimally smaller than it. Even with people watching. I am EPIC at reverse parking.

And I have the most god damn amazing eyebrows ever.

This is probably the most outing thing I have ever posted on MN might not be so modestly proud as I should be in RL

MrSlant · 19/11/2018 22:56

I have been on MN since AM (Around Mouldies). I was going for smug.

Introverted1 · 19/11/2018 22:58

@JeezYouLoon

I think a lot of posters sound lovely. But some, OP included, sound like twats.

MrSlant · 19/11/2018 23:01

Although, of course, the space has to be minimally larger than the car not smaller. I cannae change the laws of physics.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 19/11/2018 23:03

I parallel parked my truck the other day for the first time, in front of a full audience. I actually had a bead of sweat Grin

madmomma · 19/11/2018 23:11

One of my kids is astonishingly goodlooking. One of them is very clever. The other one has always been impeccably behaved.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 19/11/2018 23:13

I'm proud of the fact that my mortgage is paid in full and I earned every single penny myself. That, and the fact that I have never relied on a man for money.

Runnynosehunny · 19/11/2018 23:14

Are you a teeny bit proud of having been on MN since before Mouldies Introverted1?

Introverted1 · 19/11/2018 23:19

@Runnynosehunny

Oh dear. I’ve just joined the cunts Grin

NotUmbongoUnchained · 19/11/2018 23:21

You have to burn a big C into your forehead now.

Introverted1 · 19/11/2018 23:23
Introverted1 · 19/11/2018 23:24

I stand by what I said earlier. There is no hope for you dear.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 19/11/2018 23:25

I like how you seem to know so much about me for there to be no hope for me? Grin cute!

Myforgiven · 19/11/2018 23:28

I'm proud to have learned the lesson "Pride comes before a fall".

FaFoutis · 19/11/2018 23:29

I feel a bit sick.

C0untDucku1a · 19/11/2018 23:39

I feel proud i didnt punch my husband in the face this evening for not transdering the remaining half a tin of beans into tupperware before putting it into the fridge.

The reason i shouldnt feel proud is because i told him thats how I felt.

In my defence, i tell him not to put open tins in the fridge ALL THE TIME!

shrunkenhead · 19/11/2018 23:55

I'm a great baker (anyone can be, just follow a recipe!)
I had a 3 hour labour and homebirth (I like to think it was down to raspberry leaf tea, but probably just luck of the draw!)
I used washable nappies (meant we never ran out and cheaper!)
Being a worker, not a shirker.
Owning up when I've done wrong.
Silly things really but there's lots of things I'm not proud of....but that's another thread!
