Got chest pain feels like someone's kicked me in the breastbone. Hurts to move, hurts to breathe more than shallow.

In queue for speaking to reception, already been told might not be any appointments left. They will see me with this won't they?

I thought you said you felt weak/not well at all? Just wanted to sleep? Feel alright now then?

Folf · 16/11/2018 11:42

ADastardly, i did get out my car, but I'm not going to run into traffic to hop on like it's a fucking bus. Dont be ridiculous.

OP posts:
Folf · 16/11/2018 11:44

No Harriet I don't feel ok for the record. I feel exactly the same as I did earlier. I hurt, I feel like shit and I'm trying to find the energy to drive home.

No, the whole of National service isn't wrong, this happened in one location to one person.

To be fair to the NHS, it didn't even happen.

The OP did not tell anyone she was having chest pains.

Nothing happened.

Had the OP presented with chest pains and been told to come back at 3pm there would be something to talk about. As it happens, they didn't.

busbottom · 16/11/2018 11:47

would put a complaint in to your practice manager

Based on what?

FFS

NOBODY KNEW.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 16/11/2018 11:48

Do tell the surgery if you don’t need to keep your appointment.

ADastardlyThing · 16/11/2018 11:48

Not sure I'm the ridiculous one? I wasn't sat in my car posting on a website when i could see an ambulance sent for me was stuck in the masses of traffic heading into a doctor's surgery car park. For one thing every time I've rang an ambulance for someone they've asked me to try and make myself visible as every second counts in an emergency and has a knock on effect on the rest of their calls.

Folf · 16/11/2018 11:51

@busbottom
rtft I DID tell them.

OP posts:
Folf · 16/11/2018 11:51

Harriet, paramedic told me to keep it.

OP posts:
Jux · 16/11/2018 11:52

From what I've read here, op did tell receptionist exactly what was wrong and Was told to come back at 3pm. Then she rang 111 who sent an ambulance. Sounds to me like she did exactly what she was told to do on here so I don't understand why people are being snippy about her not telling the receptionist, because she bloody did.

Hope you're OK, op.

busbottom · 16/11/2018 11:55

Not even seen receptionist, you get given a ticket and told to sit down til they call you.

Back in my car trying to decide what to do

Did they fuck.

All this shit about putting in a complaint and how awful the NHS are, REALLY!

Janus · 16/11/2018 11:55

I would stay put until you feel comfortable to drive. I’m sure your body is slightly in shock from the drama too so just concentrate on relaxing and I hope you feel better soon.

Folf · 16/11/2018 11:56

Thank you Jux.
I'll be ok, just need to decide how I'm going to work today now with stuff I need to do, school runs and whatnot. Single mum so can't just go to bed and stay there.

OP posts:
busbottom · 16/11/2018 11:56

@Folf

You said you went to your car to decide what to do and that you had only been given a riskier at that point ?

christmascalendars · 16/11/2018 11:56

@Jux I agree, some people are just being nasty for no reason. I hope you feel better soon OP

busbottom · 16/11/2018 11:56

*ticket

pudding21 · 16/11/2018 11:56

OP: you need a chest xray. Hopefully your GP will arrange this afternoon. Take some paracetamol and go rest for a bit. Make sure you keep your 3pm appointment. Hope you feel better soon.

busbottom · 16/11/2018 11:58

I'm baffled at the constant updates. But I realise I missed the post where OP said she told them. Oddly it was after she hadn't spoken to anyone and had gone back to the car.

Folf · 16/11/2018 11:59

@busbottom

Did they fuck what? A duck? A cow? Me?

Our Drs run a walk in. You go in, take a number, wait to be called up, then tell the receptionist what the matter is and they deal with you.

I explained to the receptionist that i had chest pain, was hurting me to breath and move and I felt really ill. She told me the first appointment was at 3, booked it and dismissed me.

I came back out to the car and you know the rest.

OP posts:
crochetmonkey74 · 16/11/2018 11:59

I don't understand the nastiness here- if you think it didn't happen just leave the thread- if it happened, OP is now ill, recovering from the shock of ambulance etc and having to justify herself.
OP don't engage- just get yourself home and try to relax until you have to go back at 3pm - hopefully they'll be able to get to the bottom of it and give you something to help.
Good luck- I always feel much better when i have seen the doctor and have a plan to help get better.

busbottom · 16/11/2018 12:03

@Folf

Yes I acknowledge I missed that update as it came after the going back to the car without speaking to anyone

Not sure why you have said I called you a cow??

Janus · 16/11/2018 12:03

I agree crotchet, I would assume that if any one of us had chest pains and problems breathing they’d be pretty scared, poor woman. You lot shouting at her is t going to helps
Please keep the gp appointment and tell them what the paramedics thought.

Folf · 16/11/2018 12:04

I didn't, I was being facetious about your "did they fuck" comment.

OP posts:
Folf · 16/11/2018 12:08

FTR I'm not happy with the Receptionists response, even the guy on 111 seemed a bit shocked she sent me away despite mg symptoms.

I can't fault 111 or how quickly the ambulance responded though, they were professional and lovely.

Was it quick? Yes.. But I am literally 5 minutes from the hospital and it was a chest pain call so they're supposed to respond quickly.

OP posts:
CaledonianQueen · 16/11/2018 12:18

I have no idea why people are so nasty on here!

FWIW I had my Dad on the phone to me whilbeing worked on by paramedics and then on the ambulance to hospital. He had driven himself home from work, gone to bed, woke up with massive chest pains, crawled to the computer and googled his symptoms then on the onscreen advice he called 999! He then smoked three cigarettes at once before they arrived!

His cardiologist said that most people would be dead after the severity of heart attack that he was having! He is a bloody determined man and strong too but by the comments on this thread he wouldn’t have called 999 because (1) he could drive (2) he could use the computer (3) he was on the phone whilst in the ambulance and (3) he was able to talk. He had a triple bypass (should have been a quadruple but they didn’t have a fourth artery to use from his leg (it was a mess)) and two more heart attacks afterwards.

I am glad that your heart is ok OP. Definitely keep your appointment. Do you have a friend/ or do your dc’s have a friend (s parent) who could do the school run for you?
