I know I know, not healthy etc. But I am bloody fat and need a kick start. Is it possible? Any tips?

See the EXANTE thread.

ColinsVeryJolly · 14/11/2018 13:21

If you’re really heavy now then it’s not impossible. I went with a friend to her first slimming world weigh in and she lost 13lb in her first week! She did weigh over 25stone though.

Doyoumind · 14/11/2018 13:21

If you did you wouldn't be losing fat.

Sparrowlegs248 · 14/11/2018 13:25

What would I be losing Doyoumind?

I'm 5ft 7 and size 14/16. Mostly 16 now I'd say. I weigh 14st 7 and am slim at 11st.

Not healthily. Would a more reasonable amount not still help give you a kick start without making you feel like shit?

I always remember an old flatmate, followed a restrictive diet in the weeks running up to her holidays and by the time they got here she had lost what she wanted but also had grey skin and terrible spots, so looked far worse in her holiday pics than she would have done carrying that extra weight.

CoperCabana · 14/11/2018 13:28

I think you would be losing water but would probably look smaller / flatter stomach. I am a similar size to you and I can lose about that much over a couple of weeks from drinking loads of water, no wine, low carb.

CoperCabana · 14/11/2018 13:30

I guess depends on how healthy you are already. I can only do it if I have been indulging too much.

sofato5miles · 14/11/2018 13:31

That would be a deficit of 48,000 calories to lose fat. But if you start well and low carb you will lose water too.

MrsEricBana · 14/11/2018 13:39

Really I think no. I have been doing the blood sugar diet for 4 weeks and have lost 8lb, so 2lb a week. To lose 14lb in 10 days from 14.5 stone would be unlikely I'd think. Having said that, definitely give it a bloody good go and at least you'll be making great progress. Go for it!

Maursh · 14/11/2018 13:41

Each lb is a 3600 calorie deficit. So I guess theoretically if you ate 1000kcal and exercised 7 hours each day you would lose a pound each day.

Sitranced · 14/11/2018 13:42

Chop of a limb and you might.

heather1 · 14/11/2018 13:44

I’m doing Metabolic balance. It’s hard but it works. Lost 2 kilo in first two days (yes it’s probably water but I don’t care)
It’s not just a diet it’s a way of eating for life

Aridane · 14/11/2018 13:44

Can someone link the Examte thread?

Sparrowlegs248 · 14/11/2018 13:55

I was thinking low carb and doing 30 day shred.....

Emma765 · 14/11/2018 14:32

The problem with setting such a high target is the risk of feeling demotivated and giving up if you don't meet it.

Spartak · 14/11/2018 14:36

I'm currently off work with suspected norovirus. I've lost 6lb in 2 days. Not sure if recommend it though!

halfwitpicker · 14/11/2018 14:38

God yes.
800 cals per day, low carbing. No alcohol, sugar, do shred too.

Hezz · 14/11/2018 14:39

Exante

IJustLostTheGame · 14/11/2018 14:46

You can do it on slim fast, but it will be miserable. Drink loads of water and if you want to continue to lose weight afterwards then do it sensibly with portion sizes, calorie counting and healthy options.
Extreme diets can't really be stuck to. You'll run the risk of going crazy in two weeks and bingeing it all back on.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/11/2018 14:53

You can do it by Christmas but you're not overweight enough to do it in 10 days.

Not even if you ate nothing.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/11/2018 16:15

You can do it on the blood sugar diet especially if you are currently eating lots of carbs. It’s real food, low carb/high fat, calorie controlled. Come and check out our thread!

It is mostly water weight at first, but it’s still weight- and as pp said, it will reduce your bloating esp around the stomach so you’ll look visibly slimmer

OP, when I weighed myself on Saturday I weighed exactly the same as you and am exactly the same height. The previous Saturday I weighed 15st. Exante. (ie 600 cals low carb, loads of water) Stick to it like glue and you will lose best part of a stone in 10 days. You'll feel like hell from Day 4-8 though as your body shifts from using carbs to burning fat (ketosis).

NatashaRomanov · 14/11/2018 17:36

You will be pretty miserable on a restricted diet, with plenty of exercise. And rapid weight loss will not allow your skin to adapt and 'shrink back' nicely.

Metheven · 14/11/2018 19:13

Campylobacter did it for me, but I did spend about three weeks sat on the loo!
