I know I know, not healthy etc. But I am bloody fat and need a kick start. Is it possible? Any tips?

Glandular fever worked a treat for me. I was so swollen I couldn’t even take on water without a fight. Lost a stone in a fortnight.

Thanks all, a varied response. I'm just so stuck in a rut, really struggling to get motivated and though a short term high target would get me off to a good start. I've got an even in 10 days and I would certainly feel better if it lost sone lbs by then and hopefully have the impetus to carry on.

@LaurieFairyCaje thank you!! I'll take that as a compliment. And a challenge

I do calorie counting and low carb and have been losing a steady pound a week.
(apart from the epic 4 days of food poisoning where I lost 4lbs.)

The thing is though with the meal replacement diets your first week loss is predominantly water. Unless you do it properly and reintroduce slowly as they advise you'll just pile it all back on the minute you start eating

Don't use short cuts OP. The quicker you lose weight the harder it is to keep it off.

I thought there was a study that found that, contrary to popular belief, speed of losing weight had no appreciable impact on whether the weight was regained

justforareply · 15/11/2018 18:12

I lost 8lb in first week of 1200 cals and blood sugar diet

Did Slim and Save for a week in the summer on my return from Mexico.

Weighted 10st 6lbs on day one and 9st 12lbs on day 8.

Walked an hour at least a day and stuck to it completely.

Gruelling but worth it!

So yes, I reckon you could lose a stone in a week xx

Try googling Louise Parker - not sure you'd lose that much but I tried last year and it was the most effective thing I've tried for ages - and that was with my slightly half hearted effort (still had alcohol at the weekends and didn't do her exercises).

Am contemplating trying a 4-week stint before Christmas (she suggests 6). work has been busy so time hasn't been right but I'm not really up for lots of socialising between now and then so it might work. I love the idea of tying it in with sleep and reducing screens etc (which I also didn't do).

I done one of the 7 day Keto diets I saw on here, pretty sure the diet was called a man's name. Lost 10lbs in 5 days. It was grim and full of grapefruit but doable.

junebirthdaygirl · 15/11/2018 18:35

Depends on your age. I would definitely have shifted 10lbs easily in 2 weeks up to 40. But now in my 50s it would be a lb a week. Except for my present bout of viral infection..8lbs in 2 weeks!
