...and I am so proud!
I won't send a picture because lentil soup isn't the most aesthetically pleasing dish, but it's so yummy!
Just wanted to share this with someone.Grin
I'll even give you the recipe if you want it.
That's all, thanks for reading Grin

I love lentil soup. I put chillies in mine Smile

RCohle · 12/11/2018 15:06

I'd like the recipe!

Mine is always very bland unless I make it with a ham hock and they're quite hard to get ahold of round here.

OchSchnubbel · 12/11/2018 15:07

Oh, that sounds interesting!
My recipe is a traditional (kind of) German recipe, so no chillies (yet)

I made a big batch yesterday, we love lentil soup.

cjt110 · 12/11/2018 15:15

I was not impressed with mine. Lentils, carrot, cumin and corriander powder... Was bored of it about half way through.

OchSchnubbel · 12/11/2018 15:15

Okay so here's the recipe:
450 g lentils (I used red lentils because they don't need as long)
2-3 Carrots
1 big onion
2-3 potatoes
150 g bacon cubes (optional)
majoram
thyme
veggie stock
vinegar

Peel your veggies and cut them in cubes, dice the onion.
Wash the lentils. Then fry the onion, add the bacon if you are using it and then add the lentils.
Fill up with the stock, add the other vegetables and cook until everything is tender.
In the end season with vinegar, majoram, thyme and some salt and pepper is necessary.

I would also love to hear all your recipes, we love lentils!

Oh and if you want you can add sliced hot dogs to your portion of the soup too ;)

I don't have a recipe, I just chuck in a bit of this and that.

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/11/2018 15:19

This is my photo which is the extra for the freezer.

I just made lentil soup...
ChardonnaysPrettySister · 12/11/2018 15:20

I put spinach in mine.

OchSchnubbel · 12/11/2018 15:20

That looks absolutely amazing! Never tried freezing lentil soup, does it freeze well?

I bought red lentils for the first time last week after enjoying daal at DD's. Thanks for the soup recipe OP.

Flooffloof · 12/11/2018 15:26

I put garlic in mine, love the idea of spinach. Will try that next time.

Rachelover40 · 12/11/2018 15:27

Oh lentil soup is lovely! Well done you.

OchSchnubbel · 12/11/2018 15:27

You're welcome! I feel so old being excited about something so trivial like lentil soup Grin

Sexnotgender · 12/11/2018 15:30

Totally freezes fine. I make a massive vat of the stuff and freeze a it in week size portions.

guildingthelily · 12/11/2018 15:35

Adding a bit of ginger too is so yummy.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 12/11/2018 15:37

I find green lentil soup a completely different Beast than the red lentils one.

Green is bacon, celery and di on, red goes with Asian flavours.

Both lovely.

NeverHadANickname · 12/11/2018 15:44

I love carrot and lentil soup, one of my favorites. I am going through a bit of a soup frenzy at the moment, have batches of lentil and carrot, butternut squash and roasted tomato ready to freeze. Think we need a bigger freezer house 😁

AutumnCrow · 12/11/2018 16:07

I've grown an awful lot of chillies this year so they're going in everything Grin

Millionairesshortbread1 · 12/11/2018 16:10

I was dreaming of having my dads homemade lentil soup today, I’m off to make some.

Onatreebyariver · 12/11/2018 16:13

Vinegar? Like I put on my chips? Happy to give it a go but I’m a useless chef so please confirm if it’s just normal brown vinegar or something fancy!

GirlInTheDirtyShirt · 12/11/2018 16:15

Ooh! A bandwagon I can jump on. I make the BBC Good Food one with orange juice and cumin seeds with a glop of yoghurt in it and it is divine. Love a good lentil soup.

TwoBlueFish · 12/11/2018 16:17

I make spiced carrot and lentil soup, it’s delicious, it’s basically carrots, lentils, cumin seeds and veg stock and a bit of milk. Heating the carrots takes a little while but it’s worth it www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2089/spiced-carrot-and-lentil-soup

(I miss out the oil as I don’t see any need for it.
