Anyone get to go on any 90s kids shows?

Was reminiscing with dsis about our favourite kid shows in the nineties and how we desperately wanted to go on 'funhouse' or 'get your own back' 😂 and I realised that all those kids who got to live the dream will be grown ups around our age now! So was anyone here lucky enough to go on that type of game show In their childhood? And if yes, what was it like? Was it as fun as it looked? What was the host like? And did you win anything good lol

I didn’t but I always wanted to go on fun house! Finders keepers was another that always looked good. I always thought the prizes were cool as my parents would never be able to afford them. Citv did a birthday celebration weekend a few years ago when they played all the old programmes and we watched it with the DCs, the prizes looked cheap and awful lol. DD1 couldn’t believe I got so excited about a radio that played tapes or a skateboard with a turtle on it Grin

I lived near the Meridian studios when I was a kid. They would often draft in kids from the local schools. So I have been on a few.
Mouse Trap, Gunge Em in the dungeon, Motor Mouth and Finders Keepers.
Weirdly I don't remember a lot about the presenters. pat Sharp was quite funny.

I went on Live and kicking. But I was 17 😳

I really wanted to go on the programme where you had to completely trash every room in a studio house to find things? Was that Finders Keepers?

We used to play our own versions of Funhouse and The Crystal Maze at home Smile

Wigeon · 11/11/2018 22:45

No but I would have loved to be on Funhouse or Crystal Maze. Or Blue Peter (I did get a green BP badge which I still have). Went to the London Crystal Maze Experience last year (in my 30s) and it was AMAZING and soooo mich fun. There’s one in Manchester. It’s exactly like the TV show!

Yes! Eggs and Baker with Cheryl baker 😂😂

StingsandThings · 11/11/2018 22:50

I was filmed for Child's Play... But they didn't use my clip!

EmilyRosiEl · 11/11/2018 22:51

Yes- Playdays! (this show: ). We had to walk around in the rain and jump in puddles. I was tiny but apparently they promised that we (my playgroup) would meet Why Bird but then we didn't get to!

StingsandThings · 11/11/2018 22:53
This one ... Not the one with Chucky!
StingsandThings · 11/11/2018 22:54

@EmilyRosEi that brings back memories!

CalvinJohn · 11/11/2018 22:56

My brother went to auditions for fun house and junior blind date ( don't know if that ran(. I knew somebody that got on blockbusters as well.

upsidedownfrown · 11/11/2018 22:56

My school was on 50/50. The show presented by Sally Gray, had 50 pupils from 2 schools compete in games/questions. DH is adamant he can't remember and it must've only been shown in Scotland (i grew up in Scotland, DH in London).

It was an awesome day but spoiled a bit by the fact that there were 60 kids in my year and 10 didn't get to go. Names were pulled from a hat

hmmwhatatodo · 11/11/2018 23:01

Al those programmes that involved slime and cold beans and shaving foam. Why don’t they make em like this anymore? Wasn’t Neil Buchanan one of the best??

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 12/11/2018 02:20

Your DH is very wrong! I grew up in England and 50/50 was one of my favourite programmes as a kid - always wanted to go on it Grin

MingoMingo · 12/11/2018 02:23

I desperately wanted to be on Funhouse, my Nan said she contacted them and they said I was too young. She obviously didn’t but it made me shut up about it at the time Grin

Dawsonforehead · 12/11/2018 02:46

My concept of the UK population size was poor at that age. I used to watch Funhouse, GYOB, live and kicking etc and EXPECT to see my own friends competing.

Enidthecat · 12/11/2018 04:33

I was on chat and splat on Wacaday!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 12/11/2018 04:47

My friend went on finders keepers. She won a pgl holiday and I got to go with her.

Babybearsporij · 12/11/2018 09:24

I didn't get to go on any. I wanted to go on Crystal Maze and I actually wrote to Jim'll Fix It, but now I'm glad I wasn't chosen!!

I was in the audience for Gladiators once though.

Muddlingalongalone · 12/11/2018 09:28

My uni house-mate was on in-house- loved watching that vid was brilliant!
Also an ex-colleague was one of the why don't you "presenters"

IJustLostTheGame · 12/11/2018 09:38

My friend went on Jim'll fix it. She said he was weird. HmmShockConfusedShock

Itv filmed Dig It at a place I worked once. They were all rude and grumpy.

hmmwhatatodo · 12/11/2018 12:48

Mallets mallet. Always wanted to be on that. Anyone else spend ages playing it at home?

cptartapp · 12/11/2018 14:29

SIL was on 'Cheggars Plays Pop' ( for those of us who remember the 70's!)

AngelOfDeathNix · 12/11/2018 14:46

I really wanted to go on Finders Keepers or Fun House.....they should bring those shows back! We used to play Crystal Maze at home, my Mum was less than impressed when we played Finders Keepers!

WhoisyourDaddyandwhatdoeshedo · 12/11/2018 14:50

I had friends that went on funhouse.

I was so jeal
