Greggs has flipped its logo on one of its stores so you can see the logo in the Fenwicks window display opposite

Love this

It's a really trashy thing to do. Goes with the trash Gregg's sell. I'm from Newcastle and not particularly fond of the window so it's not that.

jerkkneed · 10/11/2018 14:31

Just had some of their Christmas Lunch soup with a sausage roll. Bloody lovely!

JamAtkins · 10/11/2018 14:34

Anyone remember the Gulliver window? Every year I wonder if it will be as good and every year it isn’t

MsSquiz · 10/11/2018 14:38

@JamAtkins I have a vague recollection of a Gulliver's Travels window... my favourite was the one they did when each window was a different fairytale.

It always signals the start of Christmas for me. I always used to go with my DM, auntie and cousin as his birthday is the 9th November. We'd go see the window then go for tea somewhere.

D’you know, I tend to agree! Is business at Greggs doing sooooo badly that they have to helicopter in on someone else’s effort???

I do not approve. Xmas Angry

SassitudeandSparkle · 10/11/2018 14:44

As well as the festive bake that they normally do, I read that a (very) limited number of stores will also be selling pigs in blankets!

Spotted them in the Manchester Piccadilly store today. What a time to be alive! (Didn't buy any, did buy one the "taste of Christmas" sandwiches.)

Howhot · 10/11/2018 15:03

If you've been to Newcastle and viewed Fenwick's window this time of year you would get it! It's incredibly popular. I think it's pretty clever 😂

Unicyclethief · 10/11/2018 17:22

Nico go and take a selfie with words in the frame...
although why would anyone want a selfie outside Greggs!!?

MsFenellaFielding · 10/11/2018 18:39

I left Newcastle around 30 years ago but still have such lovely memories around going to see The Window.

Gregg started, I think, on Gosforth High Street.

Think I need to play some. LindesfarneSmile.

Sorry to ask again but does Carricks still exist? I worked in the Wimpy in Eldon Square for years as a Saturday job. Carricks opposite but a small walk to Greggs.

Both did good stotties.

Troels · 10/11/2018 19:48

Grin that is funny, and cheeky

ALemonyPea · 10/11/2018 20:32

Carricks doesn't exist anymore.

BirdieInTheHand · 10/11/2018 20:37

Trashy and very underwhelming.

"Fabulous" "genius" and "amazing" seem to be overstating a crappy reflected sign

BusySittingDown · 10/11/2018 20:38

I'm just really pissed off that Greggs don't do the festive flatbreads anymore! Angry

They were delicious. I'll have to settle for a Christmas lunch sandwich and they best be good Greggs! .

Biancadelriosback · 10/11/2018 21:27

Well hello all my fellow Geordies!! We walked past as they were flipping the sign and had no idea what was going on. My friend said (very knowledgeably) that they were taking it down to clean it. Awks

I don't get the whole snobby "trash" talk about Greggs. I used to live in Cornwall where it was seen in some places a very middle-class thing to feed your darling child a pasty. Make it up north and feeding your child a pie from Greggs and suddenly you're trash!
