I still struggle with David Bowie dying when he did , he had just brought out a new album and thought all was well . He and Pink Floyd were my childhood music .
Also Freddy Mercury, just feel so sad that such a talented and versatile man died too young when now people with aids live long happy lives .
People I have never met but feel so much sadness that they have gone .

Steve Irwin, Alan rickman and chester bennington, i cried loads when i found out he died Sad i still get upset now listening to LP

LaLaLamp · 11/11/2018 22:38

David Bowie. Childhood fan, obsessive about him and always will be. How I made it into work on 11 Jan I will never know. Went to Brixton that night, with flowers and a framed photograph of him. Being with the fans helped a lot. I'd been to his exhibition twice in London and since then all over the world to see it. New York the last. Such a terrible shame for such a wonderful man. RIP Spaceboy.

Kirsty Macoll's death really upset me - all down to sheer arrogance and recklessness by one individual. An awful way to go, I only hope she didn't suffer too much.

WitchesPlease · 11/11/2018 22:51

John Candy- his movies were my favourite growing up. Despite playing funny characters there was always a sadness behind his eyes.

LaLaLamp · 11/11/2018 22:59

Jill Dando as well. Terrible.

beanaseireann · 12/11/2018 07:31

Jill Dando - and still nobody charged with her murder.
Kirsty Mc Coll - so tragic for her children and family.
Veronica Guerin - the Irish journalist - outspoken on Irish criminality and gunned down in broad daylight by criminals.

Hadenoughofallthis · 12/11/2018 08:24

I was very shocked when Diana died. Felt for this poor boys and, even though looking back I think she was probably very different from how she was portrayed by a mostly adoring press, every time I see William and Harry with their wives and now children, wonder what she would have made of it all.

crochetmonkey74 · 12/11/2018 08:50

Peaches Geldof- but it was more the statement that her father said
"How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?"
My mum had just recently died, and this was exactly how I was feeling so it all sort of melded together in my mind.

DarlingNikita · 12/11/2018 11:29

crochetmonkey74, I had little concept of who Peaches was, TBH, but I couldn't agree more about the statement. It seemed so raw and so grief-stricken.

dustarr73 · 12/11/2018 14:00

Tara Palmer Tompkinson.I have no idea why.She just seemed so down to earth and so much fun.

Cakemonger · 12/11/2018 14:37

Victoria Wood

Stephen Hawking

George Michael

John Fortune

Phillip Seymour Hoffman

The celebrity death I've been most shocked by was Peaches Geldof. Just a terrible thing to happen to a family.

Cakemonger · 12/11/2018 14:42

I haven't cried either Pebblespony, but I have felt very sad and affected. I think it would have to be someone I know for me to actually cry.

UnicornSlaughters · 12/11/2018 14:47

Robin Williams.

Peter Falk. I bloody love Columbo.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 12/11/2018 15:07

Charles Kennedy
Gary Speed

And I remember being horribly shocked by Jill Dando's death

myusernamewastakenbyme · 12/11/2018 16:41

Richard Beckinsale....

BoneyBackJefferson · 12/11/2018 19:08

Stan Lee

Cameron2012 · 12/11/2018 19:12

Robin Williams and Gene Wilder ☹️

Notacluewhatthisis · 12/11/2018 19:13

Stan Lee's death, hit me harder than I thought. Marvel has been a huge part of mine and ds life.

Brittanyspears · 12/11/2018 19:26

Michael Jackson and George Michael. They were my childhood.

cricketmum84 · 12/11/2018 19:33

Just told my teen son (and huge marvel fan) that Stan Lee has died. Had to give him a huge hug as he got really tearful!

lyndar · 12/11/2018 19:39

@cricketmum84 my son has got upset because he says that no more Marvel films will be created

katiethecarrot · 12/11/2018 19:51

Freddie Mercury's death has affected me more as I get older as I realise what a loss of talent it was. Like someone else said earlier, I can't listen to made in heaven without tears rolling down my face.

Jill Dando is another one for me and still not solved

amusedbush · 12/11/2018 20:00

Chester Bennington. I felt totally numb when the news broke and I still can’t listen to Linkin Park. I cried buckets watching the tribute to him at Reading Sad

Anthony Bourdain. I’ve read and watched pretty much everything he created and feel awful when I remember that he is gone.

AcrossthePond55 · 12/11/2018 20:06

Cricket and Lyndar, both my sons (28 and 34) were saddened by the death of Stan Lee. They've been fans of his work in comics since they were kids.

lyndar tell your son that Stan had pre-filmed some cameos for future Marvel films, so there WILL be more. They didn't say how many he'd filmed. Plus Disney paid mega-millions for the rights to Marvel. No way they'll just let go of the franchise. The only hope is that they keep to Mr Lee's standards!

LipstickTraces · 12/11/2018 20:15

Richey Edwards of the Manic Street Preachers. The day I found out he’d disappeared was one of the worst of my life. It’s still almost unbearable all these years on.

River Phoenix. So young, talented and beautiful. A terrible waste.
