Weird body quirks.

Do you have any?

I get stomach cramps/aches if my feet get cold.
Always have to wear fluffy socks (even in summer.)

If I move my head into a certain position or move it too quickly I get a warm (?) sensation in the back of my skull, like something has popped. Really odd.

I feel as if I'm going to throw up before I sneeze. Every single time.

I'm sure there are more too but these are the ones that have come up in conversation before now and friends/family have looked at me like

Please reassure me that I'm not a freak!

I get a twitchy foot if I need a wee, before I get the sensation of needing a wee. But only when I'm tired. 🤔 DH says my wiring is dodgy

Different body parts can be different temperatures, and not even when I'm doing anything- my face can feel really hot and flushed but my shoulders or feet will be freezing!

But I do have have super bendy monkey toes- they bend twice like fingers do. My podiatrist gets all excited about them weirdo

CrispbuttyNo1 · 08/11/2018 22:39

“I also get the pain in the left shoulder, whenever I’ve eaten too much, too quickly... tonight, I ordered a take away as a treat and had to leave the chips - because my shoulder hurt! It goes after I’ve burped “

I honestly thought I was the only person who gets this as nobody I know in real life has ever had it and I get it every time I eat too much when we go out for dinner and I’m stuffed!!

Racecardriver · 08/11/2018 22:41

I can’t yawn without making a very loud sound. It’s quite embarrassing. Also incapable of sneezing with my mouth closed.

Notquiteagandt · 08/11/2018 22:42

I can pick things up and do things with my freakishly strong toes.

I have a nosebleed with out fail before a storm.

I will always have a nightmare if I eat a bannana that day.

I can pop my jaw out.

When im tired I get a birth mark on my face. Only appears when really run down or exhausted.

MegGriffin · 08/11/2018 22:48

When I blow my nose, one of my eyes bubbles, particularly if I have a cd.

MegGriffin · 08/11/2018 22:48

Cold, not cd!

UpstartCrow · 08/11/2018 23:01

Theres a spot in my belly button that if you touch it I get a sharp stabbing sensation near one collar bone.
I get the hot head thing, and also have a bubbling, hydraulic noise come from inside my neck if its tense and I move it a certain way.
Sometimes my stomach is so noisy it can be heard across the room. And sometimes it makes a sort of explosive 'boof' noise.

CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese · 08/11/2018 23:46

I don't have bunions but my feet are flat and I no longer wear anything with a heel.
I occasionally get the sudden pain across my scalp too. It hasn't happened in a while but when I was a kid it happened all the time and was very painful. I couldn't put into words for my mum what it was except that it felt like mustard burn but in my hair. Dd gets it and I feel so sorry for her as it always happens unexpectedly. She'll just turn her head and let out a yelp. She likes the fact it is something only she gets from me Grin
Another weird thing I experience is the scariest thing ever and always leaves my heart racing. I get a noise in my ear that sounds like an earsplitting gutteral growl (almost demonic), a lions roar and one time my name being screamed. I also sometimes feel like I'm spinning out of control on the worlds fastest carousel. I actually used to enjoy that sensation unless I was pissed. Grin so it's all probably connected with my ears/bursting vessels/balance. Or because my woo mad mum also experiences these things from time to time we're possessed and/or cursed by spirits.

BarkerBump · 09/11/2018 03:06

@PenApple I have that too! Both when wiggling shoulders and when twisting my upper body.

My weird one is that seem to have some sort of ‘pocket’ in the right side of my jaw. If I’m ever blowing up a balloon I’ll eventually hear this squeaking noise (think air being let slowly out of a balloon) and I’ll get a painful pocket of air just below my right ear that I need to rub to get back to normal.
Same place is super painful if I ever get tricked into eating a sour sweet too.

QuestionableMouse · 09/11/2018 03:28

If I stand under a powerful shower and it hits a spot on my scalp it makes my knees go weak and I do a turtle neck thing where I pull my head into my shoulders.

Insieme · 09/11/2018 03:40

I have three nipples too! My third one is on my inner thigh, which is unusual apparently as they are usually on your torso.

It looks just like a smaller version of my other nipples, and feels the same too. It became more prominent when I was pregnant / breastfeeding, but no milk appeared, I'm relieved to say!

Mum2OneTeen · 09/11/2018 03:44

Another one with a third nipple here too, it didn't lactate when I was breastfeeding, which was a wonder because there seemed to be milk everywhere! It doesn't look like a proper nipple, more like a nipple coloured mole under a boob.

notangelinajolie · 09/11/2018 04:14

I have the left shoulder/food thing. I get it when I've eaten too much or I'm really hungry.

I also have the back of the head clicky thing.

And also the clicky big not bendy toe thing.

Another thing not mentioned yet is that I can't sit watching TV or go to the theatre or have a conversation with someone while looking sideways on. I always have to be looking straight ahead. If my head is turned left or right for more than a few minutes I end up getting a migraine right at the back of my head/neck. Usually on the left hand side. Could possibly be linked to back of head clicky thing.

Feeling quite reassured to discover that I'm not alone. I thought these things were me being wierd. Must show this thread to DH because he's been saying it's all I'm my mind for years.

fukkigucci · 09/11/2018 04:28

I am asthmatic. Whenever I’m a bit wheezy or breathless my chin gets really itchy. And will itch for the entire time I don’t feel well, until well after I’ve taken my inhaler.
Sometimes I’ll get an itchy chin when I’m well, and I’ll know to make sure my inhaler is close by cos I’m likely to need it soon.

PenApple · 09/11/2018 06:48

@Glossymare @Barkerbump Yey! Are you asthmatic at all? That’s what I’ve blamed my ‘noise’ on for years but I have asked other asthmatics to test it out to no avail....

DerfelCadarn · 09/11/2018 07:25

I go all uncoordinated if I'm very amused. Once I was reading a Dave Gorman book on my lunch break and trying to peal a satsuma, but my fingers wouldn't cooperate because it was too funny.

littlebillie · 09/11/2018 07:28

My head pops too

HalfBloodPrincess · 09/11/2018 07:32

I get the nausea before sneezing too!

I can ‘shoot’ spit from under my tongue like a snake spits venom.

I get a sore, achy scalp a few days before I’m ill, so I always know in advance.

Spam88 · 09/11/2018 07:42

I knew my unbending toes were normal!

LittleCandle · 09/11/2018 08:18

I can stick my big toes straight up and my little toes out to the side. My big toes do bend, as well. My right big toe joint used to get a terrible build up of pressure and bending it would usually relieve the pressure but it went off like a gun shot when it did! It was excruciatingly painful the time I broke that toe (one of the times!) until I was able to finally bend the toe.

I get a sore throat when I am over-tired. If I have a pain, it often 'buzzes' in my right ear. After an ankle operation this summer, I now have to stand on that leg and bend my knee to make the ankle click and relieve pressure. My knee on that leg also goes off like a shotgun sometimes. I am frequently hot flushes and have cold hands and feet.

MsF1t · 09/11/2018 08:54

I have various places on my body that seem to be linked. For example, if a pube on the right gets pulled, I get a stabbing pain in my upper right arm...

BedsideCabinetisnotavailable · 09/11/2018 09:25

3 nipples too! Third looks almost like a mole.
Also, I get very dizzy and sick if I put my hands above my head for too long or lean my head back.

CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese · 09/11/2018 09:27

Now I have even more quirks that you lot are reminding me of. The tongue venom thing, the feeling something elsewhere on your body thing and I now can't blow up balloons due to the pain I get at the back of my mouth where my cheeks end. It feels odd. Like a crinkly sensation.
I also get really loud and drawn out hiccups when eating very spicy food.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 09/11/2018 09:35

Cheddar, I had to buy a balloon pump because of that feeling! I hate it so much.

fukkigucci I had asthma as a teenager and used to get the itchy chin thing. I thought it was an allergy that would cause the wheezing, rather than a warning, but now that you mention it, if I get a bad cold or a chest infection (not in a long time thankfully) I get an itchy chin and neck.

Annajohnsdottir · 09/11/2018 09:38

If I go to sleep in any level of pain I have terrible nightmares. If I have so much as a mild headache I refuse to go to sleep until it's gone because I know I'll have nightmares straight away.
