Weird body quirks.

Do you have any?

I get stomach cramps/aches if my feet get cold.
Always have to wear fluffy socks (even in summer.)

If I move my head into a certain position or move it too quickly I get a warm (?) sensation in the back of my skull, like something has popped. Really odd.

I feel as if I'm going to throw up before I sneeze. Every single time.

I'm sure there are more too but these are the ones that have come up in conversation before now and friends/family have looked at me like

Please reassure me that I'm not a freak!

I’ve also had the weird little toenail thing too - I freaked out the first time it happened though Confused

brainstormer123 · 08/11/2018 21:08

OP I get the hot poppy head thing too!!! I have tried so many times to explain it to people and thought everyone got it? Is it abnormal? Haha

0121DoOne · 08/11/2018 21:08

@SneakyGremlins thick question, could you breastfeed from that nipple?
In my mind it would make perfect sense but my brain has let me down so many times in similar circumstances. 😁

Stormwhale oh my goodness I have lost 8 toe nails this summer that all fell of for no reason and new ones were growing underneath. The only ones that didn't fall off were the one next to my big toe and one next to my pinky toe on both feet my husband was freaking out that I need to go to docs. Defo no fungal infection.

formerbabe · 08/11/2018 21:09

@formerbabe it renders me useless for a few seconds because it feels so strange. Like warm brain freeze.

Exactly the same for me. When it first happened to me in front of Mr formerbabe, he kept asking me what was wrong but I couldn't speak...took a good few seconds to be able to explain...he was totally Confused

0121DoOne · 08/11/2018 21:13

@Stormwhale doesn't it hurt to lose your toenail?Okay nail posters are now the front runners, I've never heard of that before!!

The body is such a strange thing!

@formerbabe when it first happened to me as a teenager a close family member had just had a stroke and I honestly thought (for those few seconds) I was having one too.
Most disconcerting.

On my left hand I can bend my pinky without any other fingers moving

On my right hand my pinky only bends with my ring finger bending too

SneakyGremlins · 08/11/2018 21:23

I wouldn't know, I'm male Grin

CakeNinja · 08/11/2018 21:25

violet I’ve just tried that with my fingers and found the same thing Shock

Also, I have had strange toe peeling too, on my baby toe but also on the skin around and underneath my big toe! Strange. I have lost nails but I used to run a lot which explains that, so not so weird. But the skin thing is odd.

CakeNinja · 08/11/2018 21:26

A female friend of mine discovered the mole on the side of her stomach was a third nipple when breastfeeding her son, she kept getting a damp patch around her clothes in that area!

I sneeze twice it really hungry

maloofhoof · 08/11/2018 21:31

I get that weird sensation in my head too. Only 3-4 times a year but I've never known anyone else to have it. When I've tried to explain it to people they think I'm making it up. But for me it feels like a very warm explosion lasting seconds.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 08/11/2018 21:36

@AhAgain Thank you! I have that extra ankle thing - I didn't know what it was but there are some shoes I can't wear because they rub so much because of it.

My weird body quirk (other than the ankle thing) is that when I'm doing aerobic style exercise and my right arm stretches back, the right side of my upper lip curls upwards, like and Elvis impression - it's a bit embarrassing Blush

frecklefox · 08/11/2018 21:38

If someone speaks or whispers into my ear, it tickles in my hip on the same side.

MintMatchstickMuncher · 08/11/2018 21:40

My left eye makes a loud squelching noise when I rub it. It grosses people out so I have to consciously remember not to rub my eyes in front of people. It really freaks my mum out.

itsbritneybiatches · 08/11/2018 21:41

I can't sneeze once I do a minimum of four everytime. It makes my nipples stick out 🤦🏽‍♀️

JellySlice · 08/11/2018 21:42

I can make a clicking noise inside my ears, that can be heard outside my ears. The noise definitely comes out of my ears, not my throat.

I freaked out a fellow visitor to a very quiet museum this summer! Grin

DwangelaForever · 08/11/2018 21:42

@Spam88 I can't bend my big toes either!!

I have one Megan Fox toe thumb and one normal thumb.

Ourmaud · 08/11/2018 21:42

When I was pregnant I got hyperpigmentation that never really went away so now my vag looks like it’s leopard print. Used to really bother me but now it’s just one of those things.

DwangelaForever · 08/11/2018 21:43

Also my toe thumb clicks like your toes @CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese @wannabebetter

enjoyingscience · 08/11/2018 21:44

I can dislocate my shoulders voluntarily (not quite fully, but enough to leave a big dent between the joint).

It’s a great party trick, but a pain when they do it if I’m carrying heavy bags. Less fun then. All my fingers pull out too. I was very poorly made!

PenApple · 08/11/2018 21:44

It’s hard to describe my main one. If I move my chest/torso from side to side (so one shoulder up while on is down) my lungs? make a noisy expel air noise. Only I can hear it until I open my mouth then the sound travels out so others can hear, it looks and sounds like I’m heavy breathing but I’m holding my breath.

I’ve asked around but not found anyone else yet that can do it.

ladydickisathingapparently · 08/11/2018 21:46

wannabe that’s really common. Two out of three of my births were by C section and the pain in my shoulder from trapped wind was horrendous.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 08/11/2018 21:48

Is everyone bending their toes now. Mine doesn’t bend very much 😂
