Why don’t they make lunchboxes like I remember?

In the 90s everyone had a rectangular lunchbox with matching flask with cartoons/toys/film characters on. Where did these go? DS is 4 and the fabricy one he has comes back from school absolutely minging every day. I want one I can easily wash out. Sistema ones are fine but they don’t have handles. He’d love one of the old-school ones with Octonauts on if they still made them!

I like the Amazon ones. Shame my dcs are too old but I'm tempted to get one for myself. I just need some Tom Hardy stickers

Because she’s 3 and the ears are nice and easy to clip/unclip with tiny fingers. I realise she will eventually find it uncool and want a more grownup one, but then i might take it over

I couldn’t find an octonauts one but there is this PJ Masks one on eBay. I used to have a Lion King one which was fab...

I still have a Kermit flask.

Amazon sell similar boxes although I haven't seen similar flasks. They are nowhere near as indestructible as the old ones though, DDS cracked in the corner pretty quickly.

I always wanted one of the pink my little pony ones but for some reason I ended up with an orange and brown Get Along gang lunchbox
I think maybe the flasks would be against health and safety rules these days
I remember if they got bashed the glass inside would shatter

I think I had a poppies one!

I just have a couple of fabric ones for my kids, and wash them on a hand wash setting at the end of the week.

I do like the idea of the flasks though. They never seemed to leak. I would like something reusable in my kids lunch bags now but all the water bottles I've ever bought them seem to leak.

I bought one of the plain ones from a site a PP suggested, with the intention of buying some stickers for it.......and DS has decided he wants school dinners again!

I guess it’ll be handy for school trips etc, or if he wants a packed lunch again. I still think there’s definitely a demand for the old school ones!

I had a blue munch bunch one and my dad used the flask for work ha ha. Can't find a photo. Very envious of all you lucky people that had snoopy ones!

My dc use this type of lunch box and I chuck them in the washer every now and then to get rid of the funky smell, they always come up like new.

But I had a my little pony lunch box when I was a kid, I loved it!

I had a pink one with a red handle, with "Annie" (the film) on it and my brother had a blue one with ET on it - must have been very early eighties but I can remember exactly what they looked like!!

I had a yellow winnie the pooh one with matching flask.

I had the ET one!!
And a white Mr Man one with Mr Greedy on

Yep same here. However I moaned about it on Amazon and they sent me a new one. That didn't last either though.

That is £25! Could buy a plain one and stick blackboard paint on it yourself.
