Why don’t they make lunchboxes like I remember?

In the 90s everyone had a rectangular lunchbox with matching flask with cartoons/toys/film characters on. Where did these go? DS is 4 and the fabricy one he has comes back from school absolutely minging every day. I want one I can easily wash out. Sistema ones are fine but they don’t have handles. He’d love one of the old-school ones with Octonauts on if they still made them!

I’m just looking on eBay now, I remember loads of the pink and blue My Little Pony ones.

There’s an ET one at £40, I had no idea they’d be collectible

I'm sure I've seen this sort of lunchbox in B&M but they aren't on their website

I had a red Rainbow Bright lunchbox which I loved.

I had count duckula, holding a broccoli sandwich. So much cooler than my sisters spot the dog one

Mine was orange with the lion king on it!

My dds have the one that PleaseLetMummySleep linked to, in different colours though. They have lasted since last September despite being chucked around regularly and they go in the dishwasher - I’ll never buy a fabric one again!

It was a Woolworths speciality the plastic lunchbox. I had a muppets one. The new-fangled ones tear really easily on the inside and then the cheesy ming never comes out.

I was the subject of much scandal some years ago when I gaily admitted that I shoved DS's fabric lunchbox in the dishwasher at least a couple of times a week.
Lips were pursed, heads were shaken and there was much muttering about how it "says you're not allowed to on the label" There was a frisson of suspicion in the playground for a while.
Some time later it transpired that my little act of rebellion had started a tidal wave, I believe this is how revolutions begin

DS’s fabric one gets scrubbed with hot soapy water and left to dry (even though the label says just to wipe the inside), maybe I’ll try your method if there’s some space in the dishwasher. The mixture of orange juice, yoghurt AND banana skin slime yesterday was in all the creases 🤢

I loved these! I had a red count duckula one!!

I had the snoopy one too! The clasp was a bit loose though (was just a sort of plastic tongue that slid into a loop) and I remember walking about with my fingers curlier over the side in case it popped open!

I'm sure you can get lunchboxes like it still.

DH treated me to one of these to take to work for my birthday and I love it! Not the cheapest though.

I have often wondered this! Those lunch boxes were fab! I know my daughter would love one.

I have fond memories of my forever friends lunch box. I stuck spice girl stickers inside it.

Off to eBay as I could do with a new lunch box.

Omg the nostalgia. I had a Brum lunchbox when I was tiny and then a fabric doctor who one... went away on a residential and spilled milk inside it so it REEKED afterwards
