Or is there stuff everywhere?? I'd love a streamlined look but currently on the main surface is:
Oils
Bowl of salt
Toaster
Breadbin (too small so lots piled on top)
Kettle
Three canisters for tea etc
Fairy liquid
Thing for dishbrush
Breadboard
Marmalade
Nutella
Thing holding knives
Cookie barrel
Bottle of ribena
Kitchen roll holder
Fruit bowl
Loads of bottles of alcohol
Plant pot with dead plant in it
Ornament
Baking stuff - will put this away now
Two boxes of bulbs waiting to be planted
Tin of crayons
Tissues
Pile of paperwork

Blimey having written that all down it sounds even worse!!!

Bloody hell! Where do you actually do cooking stuff??
I've got out... a radio, a fruit bowl, a microwave, a kettle and a magazine folder thing of paperwork to sort. I don't like stuff on the sides and I feel once my kitchen is tidy it makes the whole downstairs calmer.

WipsGlitter · 04/11/2018 09:49

It's a big kitchen (luckily) and there's an island unit as well!

lucysmam · 04/11/2018 09:49

Um...I'd love to say streamlined but it's not even close!

On my kitchen sides...

Tin with sweets in
Tea/coffee/sugar cannisters & sweetex
Tea bag plate
Knife blocks
Chopping board
Kettle
2x cooking oil
Egg skelter
Jars of pasta/rice/bag clips
Fancy jar full of wax melty things
Small bowl of pumpkin seeds to try growing our own next year
Wax melt melter
Pack of mini rolls onestop impulse buy last night
Ignore last night's pots I'll wash up soon

One whole side is filled with small kitchen appliances, things for Rainbows and Guides, jars for craft club, a lampshade that wants cleaning, and a tub of beads that are sticky for some reason so need a wash.

I'll not tell you about the giant table that turns into an extra kitchen worktop for assorted junk!

Mine is quite minimalist. I have:

Toaster
Kettle
Bread bin
Knife block
Chopping board (leant up against tiles)
Kitchen roll holder

And then there is a bit of a drinks corner with wine and big bottles of water etc.

And I keep the oil and s&p out next to the cooker.

Adversecamber22 · 04/11/2018 09:58

Big kitchen here

Spice rack
Large jug containing spatulas, fish slices etc
Small jug containing veg knives
Fruit platter
Kettle
Large batter bowl contains washing up liquid and sponge
Wooden open mini cabinet a bit like a printers letter set box that has little boxes I have collected over the years in it. That's in front of the boiler switch so it's unseen.

I have a wide tiled windowsill and have a row of cream and cream and blue jugs with two pots of herbs.

There is currently a small pile of letters but DH is away till tonight and they are all his.

joiningmum · 04/11/2018 10:03

I don't have much work surface due to some full-length upper cupboards so it's in other places. If I don't use something at least 2x a week then it should be stored away.

Oils - mine are behind the hob
Bowl of salt - in the cupboard
Toaster
Breadbin - bread on toaster, wraps in cupboard, pastry in cake stand
Kettle - on a shelf
Three canisters for tea etc - (2) on the same shelf
Fairy liquid - behind sink
Thing for dishbrush - in the dish drainer
Breadboard - across hob
Marmalade - in fridge
Nutella - in cupboard
Thing holding knives - in drawer or cutlery stand
Cookie barrel - beside my coffee machine in another room
Bottle of ribena - in cupboard
Kitchen roll holder
Fruit bowl - on breakfast table
Loads of bottles of alcohol - (about 4) all in cupboard
Plant pot with dead plant in it - on a shelf and windowsill
Ornament - in the glass cabinet
Baking stuff will put this away now - in a cupboard
Two boxes of bulbs waiting to be planted - waiting by my front door!
Tin of crayons - in craftbox
Tissues - in bathroom
Pile of paperwork - study/bedroom/breakfast table

WipsGlitter · 04/11/2018 10:03

I've binned the dead plant and put the baking stuff away. Looking at breadbins on Amazon.

Fairy liquid always under the sink, it’s one of my little bug bears. Even if you use once a day it’s easy to get it out and put away. I always think kitchens look untidy if this is out.
Tea and coffee canisters in a cupboard, kitchen roll in a drawer.
RIbena in the fridge with the marmalade. Are these things always out or just waiting to be put away?

Would love a boiling tap thing so I could get rid of the kettle.
Ideally I only have kettle, toaster and knife block out. Oh and a few candles.

WipsGlitter · 04/11/2018 10:09

The ribena bottle is massive so it won't fit in the fridge. Marmalade and Nutella are always out but I've put them away now!

Fruit bowl
Joseph Joseph thing for storing chopping boards.
Kitchen roll holder
Holder for washing up liquid, brush and ant bac
Toaster
Coffee machine
Kettle, but that could be put away because we don’t really use it, as could the tea, coffee and sugar canisters.

Rungirlrunning · 04/11/2018 10:23

Oils - cupboard
Bowl of salt - cupboard
Toaster - out
Breadbin (too small so lots piled on top) - get a bigger one and put bread board in too
Kettle - out
Three canisters for tea etc -out
Fairy liquid - sink tidy
Thing for dishbrush - sink tidy
Breadboard - bread bin
Marmalade - fridge
Nutella - cupboard
Thing holding knives - mounted on the inside of a high cupboard
Cookie barrel - cupboard
Bottle of ribena - cupboard and buy smaller if it doesn't fit
Kitchen roll holder - ikea under cupboard
Fruit bowl - dining room table
Loads of bottles of alcohol - bottle rack in fridge

I really hate clutter in the kitchen so only things on my work surfaces are kettle, toaster, tea & coffee canisters, bread bin, large jug full of utensils, sink tidy. Literally nothing else partly because my cats sometimes walk on the surfaces at night so I antibac spray everywhere first thing in the morning and like to know it's all clean but also I like space for cooking, food prep, making packed lunches etc and my kitchen isn't so large I have unlimited work surface.

RickOShay · 04/11/2018 10:24

Wips my kitchen is the anithesis of streamlined.
you can be in my gang Grin

HellenaHandbasket · 04/11/2018 10:26

We have a small kitchen, all we have out is kettle, coffee machine, some chopping boards on end, a small toaster in a corner and an egg carousel.

SorrelForbes · 04/11/2018 10:32

We have a big kitchen with a lot of worktop and no wall cupboards. I hate clutter though so only have the following on display (everything else is stuffed into the pantry!):

Bread bin
Chopping board
Utensil holder
Coffee maker
Kettle
Kitchen roll holder

Shelf with salt holder, biscuit tin, plant - all for decoration really.

Plural · 04/11/2018 10:34

Small to medium kitchen. All I have is a draining board and some plants on the window sill. Clutter is my nemesis

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 04/11/2018 10:39

Showroom v cosy home .... give me Cosy home any day ! Who needs streamlined !

LettuceP · 04/11/2018 10:42

Big kitchen:
Microwave
Toaster
Bread bin
Oil
Joseph joseph nest chopping boards (upright against tiles)
Fruit bowl
Steriliser
Perfect prep
Bottles
Formula
Kettle
Food waste caddy
Sink tidy (washing up liquid, bottle brush, scourer)
2 small plants in nice pots
Washing up bowl with dirty bottles in it next to the sink
And a pack of anti bac wipes carelessly thrown on the side

Kitchen looks very minimal and tidy even with all that out, I guess maybe because it's all kitchen related, regularly used stuff. Also to add I do have a utility room that is not quite so minimal Grin

Anticyclone · 04/11/2018 10:58

I am so disheartened every time I walk into our kitchen. We are natural hoarders and cluttered surfacers, although I really try hard to reduce it. But it's a losing battle.

Here we go...

Two fruit bowls
Ikea Moppe drawers
Dry cat food pot
Empty Milk bottles to be put outside
Bread board
Toaster
Bread bin
Salt & pepper on coasters
2 x ikea cutlery holders (full to brim)
Small spice rack shelf not attached to wall
Cheese board
Knife block
Kettle
Small bowl of wooden fruit(!?)
Circular tray with lazy susan inside and kitchen rolls, compostable food waste bags, food processor and dishwasher tablets on top.
Compost bin
Sink with drying rack
Bread maker
Loads of empty plastic and glass jars shoved in corner in case they are useful.
Plastic bag of duck food.
Microwave with empty jam jars on top ready to be re-filled.
Digital radio with clean houmous pot filled with Tommy Tippy sippy cup valves on top.
Empty clean mushroom box filled with child's water cups and lids
Multiple adult water bottles.
Stack of child's ikea bowls.
Carbon monoxide alarm.

This is only the kitchen surfaces themselves. I have not included the mass of stuff on the window sill behind the sink or on shelves!

BeautifulPossibilities · 04/11/2018 11:01

Coffee machine
Kettle
Fruit stand
Microwave
Utensils holder

...and I think that's far far too much out.

Todamhottoday · 04/11/2018 11:06

I hate hate hate stuff on my work-surfaces and think I have too much as it is now

Kettle
Toaster (wish I could get rid)
A wooden crate next to cooker with oils, salt etc and kitchen roll dispenser
fruit bowl

thats it, everything else under sink or in the correct cupboard, knives on a rack on the wall,

fussychica · 04/11/2018 11:15

I have a tiny kitchen. Totally streamlined. White and pale grey matte handleless doors and white/grey marble worktop with integrated drainer grooves. Appliances integrated.

Only things I have out are a storm grey kettle and matching toaster. Plus a clear glass worktop saver.
Everything else is in the appropriate draw or cupboard.

I am quite tidy by nature but a bit obsessive about the kitchen because it's small and I want it to look as spacious as possible.

LegoCardSwapper · 04/11/2018 11:28

Haha I could win this 😩

Chopping boards
Oils (x4)
Pot stand
Bottles of squash (x3)
Flask and 3 drinks bottles for the kids
Nespresso machine and milk frother on top of a stand which hides all the pods
Kettle
Dish cloth stand/fairy liquid
Drying rack (with plastic under tray to protect wooden surfaces so looks v cluttered
Knife rack on wall
Life block
Box of Cat food (could go away, admittedly)
Fruit bowl
Microwave
Letter organiser
Pile of laptop/iPads/baby monitor all charging
Kids book bags
Pile of school paperwork to action
Perfect prep machine
Steriliser
Bottles
Baby milk etc
Recipe books

Plus coin jar/photos/kitchen roll/hand wash/vase/herb pot all living on window sills.

A big kitchen, thankfully but as much as I strive for clear surfaces they just never happen!

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 04/11/2018 11:32

Fruit bowl on the table. Coffee, tea and sugar pots next to kettle and toaster, kitchen aid and an echo dot on the windowsill. Everything else is away.

The bread bin lives in the utility room with the fridge, washing machine and dryer so all the associated 'tat' goes into those cupboards.

DH says it's like living with a squirrel because I'm always putting stuff away but I hate clutter in the kitchen and can't cook in a mess.

bluetongue · 04/11/2018 11:45

You need to get a whippet. My kitchen used to have stuff all over the benches but since extensive whippet proofing now only has toaster, kettle and microwave out Grin

haggisaggis · 04/11/2018 11:50

Kitchen was remodelled in January so now what we have out is :
knife block, kitchen roll x 2, hand soap, fruit bowl and coffee machine. We have a boiling water tap and everything else including the toaster has its space in a cupboard. Love it!
