Ive been referred but the wait is awful and I can’t afford private
I've had a rash for months and it won’t go and I feel awful and look horrendous
So far the gp has tried
Dermol 500
Cetraben
Fucidin
Fucidin h
Eumovate
elocon
Antihistamine
Oral antibiotics
Swabs all came back normal

It’s little red spots that literally emerge before my eyes, wont heal and the look a bit like chicken pox (a few people asked do I have it) mostly on my arms maybe three or four spots on legs

Def not bites. Nobody knows what it is and they are scarring and I feel dreadful. Each spot seems to have a cycle will erupt and get infected, scab over and re erupt and get raised, then go like a v dark blood blister and then bleed and finally start to heal and scar a lot

I can’t wait till feb 😔 I don’t know what to do they hurt too quite deep in the skin

If fucidin isn’t working, I dunno what will. Is it some kind of odd virus? Do you feel normal? No temperature?

GreyGiraffespointyhat · 01/11/2018 22:29

No temp and don’t feel ill all Ive had is occasional stomach pain but they did a scan and it was an inflamed lymph gland which made me wonder infection but go said not as antibiotics didn’t work
I wondered stress but gp said no.

I've had something exactly as you describe. I wasn't swabbed though even though my GP said I should come back if they had healed. I had them for a year up until around 8 weeks ago. I tried topical antibiotics (zineryt) oral antibiotics and nothing worked.
They have subsided in the last 8 weeks. I don't know whether its anything to do with my ancient towelling robe I used in place of a towel (Yes I did wash it) which I binned and replaced.
I'd be interested to know whether it was a staph A infection. Were you tested for that?

donajimena · 01/11/2018 22:42

Do they sometimes also come to a head which you dare not touch as doing so won't actually produce anything but pain?

AnnaMagnani · 01/11/2018 22:43

Have you got a dermatology appointment booked in February?

Ring up the secretary now and say you will accept any earlier appointment at short notice due to a cancellation - not every system allows this but I've had some patients jump v long queues by doing this.

Also does your practice have a GP who is especially interested in dermatology? And if so, is it the one you are seeing?

A lot of practices do as it is such a common problem. Check on the website under 'About the team' and the doctors usually write what they are interested in or any additional qualifications they have. If your practice has someone with Dip Derm after their name, book to see that GP.

Not like a spot/boil but they are flat and infected like the scab is just infected if that makes sense and then when I shower or bath it comes off just a nasty yellow piece of pus/scab/skin it’s just horrible

OP posts:
GreyGiraffespointyhat · 01/11/2018 22:45

Yes appt booked for Feb
The dr at my surgery who specialises in skin said he had no idea at all
Yes they actually treated as if it were a staph infection with flucloxacillim and no change at all

Guttate Psoriasis?? My husband had this.It started with a sore throat and then he developed the rash. There is a special cream ( Dovobet ) that he used . It was 100 euro a tube ! We are in Dublin.
Being honest it took a good year for it to clear.

thereallochnessmonster · 01/11/2018 22:47

Psoriasis? Sounds like it could be guttate. Did you have a throat infection before the spots Appeared? Are they itchy?

thereallochnessmonster · 01/11/2018 22:47

X-posted, Foodie!

donajimena · 01/11/2018 22:48

The ones on my back were flat as you describe. The ones on my upper arms had the pretend head on them. If my OH were here now I'd take a picture of my scars to show you solidarity.
How long have you had them?

GreyGiraffespointyhat · 01/11/2018 22:49

No throat infection. It’s been sine June

GreyGiraffespointyhat · 01/11/2018 22:52

It’s really getting me down as I’m backs of hands too so can’t even hide them all and people keep asking about c pox like I’m going out and I’m contagious 😔

Oh it’s there now

OP posts:
FoodieToo · 01/11/2018 22:54

Lol thereal !! You don't HAVE to have a sore throat prior, OP.

GreyGiraffespointyhat · 01/11/2018 22:54

There must be 25-30 on each arm/back of hands

OP posts:
PoliticalBiscuit · 01/11/2018 22:56

How do you know they're not bites?

FoodieToo · 01/11/2018 22:58

Although if it is guttate psoriasis any GP would recognise it. Sure I diagnosed my husband and then he went off to the GP who confirmed.

GreyGiraffespointyhat · 01/11/2018 22:59

At first I wondered if they were as it was v hot and I thought maybe mosquito.
Gp said bites would itch and these don’t.
Also only on arms and 3-4 on legs but nobody else in the house has a mark on them
Don’t have pets
Check mattresses as I panicked about bed bugs. Nothing

OP posts:
FoodieToo · 01/11/2018 23:00

Also OP there is a link between stress and guttate psoriasis. My husband developed it after a particularly stressful time in hospital with one of our kids.

FoodieToo · 01/11/2018 23:01

Do the pics we have posted look similar ?
