Hot cross buns

Bokky · 29/10/2018 20:42

Mince pies every time

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 29/10/2018 20:42

Hot cross buns - more scope for buttering and adding different jams etc (ginger jam is my favourite).

Better things to eat at Christmas than mince pies.

You want us to pick between them?!? Heck no!!! I need both in my life, end of Grin

PersonaNonGarter · 29/10/2018 20:46

Hell choice.

I think I am going to go Hot Cross Bun: they are a bit more flexible in that they can be a breakfast food as well as a tasty treat at teatime or elevenses.

However, I am deeply upset at having to make a choice. Mince pie and mug of tea is my happy trade off when the clocks go back. The mince pie is a precious thing and DH and I do huge taste tests of all of the supermarket ones to see which are best. (Research, see.)

Actually, I might have to change my mind. Damn. Don’t know.

RiverTam · 29/10/2018 20:46

Mince pie has to be warms in the oven and with a side order of brandy butter. Only then can it beat a toasted hot cross bun dripping with butter.

Cold, neither.

Escolar · 29/10/2018 20:46

Love both but would go for mince pie if I had to choose.

Mookie81 · 29/10/2018 20:48

Mince pies, particularly Fortnum and Mason ones. The only ones I like. 😋🤤🥧

Is that the most MN comment ever? Halloween Grin

Rockbird · 29/10/2018 20:50

Ah man. You can't ask a question like that. It's like choosing between your children!

AdaColeman · 29/10/2018 20:50

Mince pies best for Christmas.............

Hot Cross Buns best for Easter!

NotUmbongoUnchained · 29/10/2018 20:51

They’re both rank 🤮

Polly99 · 29/10/2018 20:51

Mince pies, especially as a vehicle for thick brandy cream. Mmmmmm.
I really can’t wait!

springmachine · 29/10/2018 21:32

I could happily have hot cross buns for breakfast and bedtime snack

A mince pie cannot be either unless exceptionally slovenly

Therefore my choice is hot cross bun

gothefcktosleep · 29/10/2018 21:35

Hot cross buns all day long (and I love a mince pie)

RitaMills · 29/10/2018 21:37

Toasted hot cross bun with butter or Nutella 🤤

I do love a mince pie too though.

Whichoneisbest · 29/10/2018 21:37

Mince pie
But ask me again just before Easter...

Brigante9 · 29/10/2018 21:37

Mince pies, but strictly no brandy flavour/butter/sauce, can’t bear the stuff. My first experience of lobster was ruined by having brandy sauce with it. Ick. My mother ices her mince pies, it’s a fab combination with juicy raisins etc. My DH thinks it’s weird.

HappyEverIftar · 29/10/2018 21:42

Mince pies FTW.

It's Christmas in a bite! Hot cross hens are delicious but between the two, the mincie poos take it.

HappyEverIftar · 29/10/2018 21:42

Hot cross buns, not hens Hmm

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 29/10/2018 21:43

Mince pies are better than most things in life!

daphine2004 · 29/10/2018 21:43

Mince pies cold.
Mince pies hot.
Mince pies hot with custard.
Mince pies hot with squirts cream.

I swear by normal M&S ones, but I think I need to try F&M too. Research.

daphine2004 · 29/10/2018 21:44

Squirty cream*

I don’t think anyone would want “squirt cream” on anything! 🤣🤣

HollidayArmadillo · 29/10/2018 21:45

Mince pies
Warm with clotted cream thanks

I don't like hot cross buns but I do love a toasted tea cake - I'm often told they're the same thing but they're just ... not?

Rachelsholiday · 29/10/2018 22:20

Mince pies no contest
