Oh for goodness sake. I have a crush on the builder

I’m such a cliche - middle aged sahm crushing on the builder. I need strategies to look busy and keep out of the way. Blush

Loving this.
Go for it OP... I think I'm team CG

BlueBrush · 10/11/2018 08:50

Mulling over CG situation. I think it's important not to fall into the trap of going out with someone just because they like you and because they seem like a decent sort. (I've made this mistake a few times before. It did not end we'll.) I think if CG doesn't do it for you - at all - then steer well clear.

AnotherEmma · 10/11/2018 09:02

Completely agree Blue

SilentIsla · 10/11/2018 09:53

I must be the only person here who would never fancy a builder. Guys in city suits are much more my weakness.

SilentIsla
I love a handsome man in a good suit but banker wankers are a lot less sexy than a muscly builder who's good with his hands Grin

Shockers · 10/11/2018 11:45

I think you may have shot yourself in the foot there.

Turn this around and imagine that you are CB; you would now imagine that GC (gorgeous client) had had her head turned by CG, and back off.

If CG brings up going for a drink again, you must say, ‘It would be lovely if you came to our next meeting, CB and CSB.’

Just to let them all know that you in no way considered it to be a date.

Keyra · 10/11/2018 13:17

I love that you're all so kind and helpful, it's really lovely!

But having slept on it I'm going to do - nothing! Cg is far too nice to give any false hope to and cb is evidently not interested. I do like cg and would like to keep him as a friend and then - who knows? But it's not the best of ideas to get involved in a possibly messy situation in the middle of a project which is costing me my life savings!

Never say never and all that, and I'll certainly keep you all informed if there are any developments. In the meantime, I'll keep posting about the trials and tribulations of having the builders in! I'm looking forward to meeting tp, especially as I've now learnt he's a pigeon fancier. Kind but quiet kitchen maker (who has bulldogs) should be back next week too.

Thank you all who clarified the abbreviations for me! X

BlueBrush · 10/11/2018 13:50

Good for you Keyra. Just see what happens.

Your builders are all animal lovers then!

Keyra · 10/11/2018 18:24

Just dropping by to wish juaneeze much luck tonight :)

Shockers · 10/11/2018 21:04

You are very wise.

Good luck to your extension, and all who sail in her!

Juaneeze · 11/11/2018 00:46

Thank you @keyra

It didn't go as planned, I spoke to one of the other people that know him and it turns out he went away for the weekend. ....I'm thinking to see a girlfriend but will find out more information next week from a reliable source.

I spent the evening sipping champagne and eating tiramisu so it wasn't a complete failure!

I think you're making a wise decision for the time being Keyra, take a step back and enjoy the build who knows what will happen by the time they finish.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 11/11/2018 09:27

Just caught up with the thread after a few days it’s all going on missing teeth out with the nice guy who doesn’t do anything for you but he is certainly keeping you two apart Envy

How much longer will they be there ?

My crush is making me feel anxious i think about him all the time and now I feel out of control Shock

Keyra · 11/11/2018 10:43

Oh Enthusiasm that's not good, poor you. There's a thread in relationships called something like "Limerance coming to and end". I haven't read it, but maybe it could be helpful for you in some way. Flowers

Juaneeze thanks for updating. What a shame he wasn't there but, as you say, there are worse ways you could have spent your evening! I hope you find out more.

Keyra, a Plan!Wink, copied from what my friend did after her mahoosive kitchen refurb and extension was complete.

She'd had a great team of builders in, had taken before/during and now complete pics which she'd put round the walls - and then invited all her friends round with the Team as Guests of Honour. Grin

Lots of booze, lots of nibbly things to eat and The Team still use (with permission) pics taken at the time to show prospective new clients, so they got new work too.

Something to think about as Christmas approaches?

PixieN · 11/11/2018 11:07

@catpyjama ‘Is TP like Godot-never arrives? Or has he been plastering away unnoticed all this time, like a really helpful borrower? I have missed his actual appearance.’

This has made me 😂😂😂

Just read the thread & been totally distracted from lesson planning. Maybe TP with turn out to be super hot (when/if he eventually turns up, despite his size) and throw another curveball into the mix Wink

Keyra · 11/11/2018 11:25

That is a good idea Aviator. I was actually talking to dd on Friday about whether or not to have a celebratory party at the end. Could be a goer!

Get back your lesson planning at once Pixie - I don't want the future of the youth of today jeopardised on my behalf Grin

Keyra · 11/11/2018 11:29

Meant to say Aviator the big and hairy floor fitter had builders bum enough to make up for the lack of it from the other three! I don't know why he bothered with trousers, although I'm very glad he did! I can see that when he's here actually fitting the floor I'm going to have to spend a lot of time averting my eyes.

Have so enjoyed this thread. But I want you to get with CB!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 11/11/2018 17:29

Thanks Keyra I have a read through Limerance coming to an end thread. Certainly understood how some felt never heard of the term before.

I haven’t had a crush in years (10+) like this and get the sneaky suspicion he might have feelings (oh lordy analyzing like a love struck teenager) I think it’s just unsettling me so feels bitter sweet, mainly seeet though. Have spent the afternoon mainly daydreaming Blush

Sorry this is your thread. I can certainly empathize with you and look forward to an update. I think it’s time for some homemade biscuits that will create conversation

LaMontser · 11/11/2018 18:02

Oh god, I have found my people. For the last two weeks I’ve been harbouring a ridiculous crush on a bloke who’s quoting me for some work.

I’ve been separated since March & am assuming it’s a type of madness that comes from needing a shag.

Apermanentheadache · 11/11/2018 18:25

It's so fun, though. Maybe you are just ready to get back in the saddle, LaMonster. Improbable, slightly unsuitable crushes are like life's natural uppers... makes the day more interesting and fizzy in a completely harmless way.

A bit like window shopping for things you don't really need and definitely can't afford.

Strangely I have a current crush on a bit of rough. Smokers' teeth although none missing, unconventional living arrangements ... mmm so wrong but so righhhhht in my head

I cannot resist a man with a practical skill. It's like an animal attraction and it continually amazes me that this is probably quite a primal hunter-gatherer thing.

ThisIsWhatItSoundsLike · 11/11/2018 19:18

Just wanted to pop in and declare....... I am team Crushy Builder,.
Pricing up badges and caps shortly and will return with a price list and order details.

WingsofaDragonfly · 11/11/2018 19:47

I’ve enjoyed this thread so much, but I have to say while CB might be a bit exciting for a short time CG sounds like he might be in for the long haul. Absolutely not over invested in this, not me Grin
