Be anyone at any point in time, who and where and when?

I daydream of me back in the 16th century, all Mary Queen of Scots like, of course part of the upper classes and with te beautiful gowns.

I would like hot running water and NHS and central heating.

What about you? Dream with me!

I think I’d be me aged 10... and knowing what I know now, I would do almost everything differently.

Dlux · 27/10/2018 19:00

@LookingThroughTheLookingGlass like a superpower

Katherine of Aragon, when she was married to Prince Arthur. Just to know, did they, or did they not consummate the marriage! And did she actually make a death bed promise to marry Henry and so still become queen.

NatashaRomanov · 27/10/2018 19:05

But only for a month or so. I want to be back in my own body and time before the Tudor court pushed her into poverty!

Spankyoumuchly · 27/10/2018 19:05

I want to know what Victorian times smelt like. How tight were corsets really? How bland was the food?
The same is true for Roman times in Italy, specifically Pompeii before the eruption obviously! How deep was the poo in the streets? What was the bath house really like? Would I enjoy watching people die in the gladiator fights?
Both of these I would be an ordinary person.
I'd also like to know what it would be like living in the Caribbean.

Dlux · 27/10/2018 19:07

@NatashaRomanov I want to know too!!!

flumpybear · 27/10/2018 19:08

Oh fab thread.

Rome at the height of its empire
Victorian London

cushioncovers · 27/10/2018 19:21

Meant to say I often imagine I'd be invisible and just travel back in time to observe the people and absorb the sights sounds and smells.

RedneckStumpy · 27/10/2018 19:23

I would like to be in Russia during the Second World War.

LookingThroughTheLookingGlass · 27/10/2018 19:41

Yes! Like a superpower...just jump back to key points and change a few decisions

Dlux · 27/10/2018 19:52

OP posts:

Dlux · 27/10/2018 19:56

@MrsMoastyToasty never heard of that! Which years?

OP posts:
cushioncovers · 27/10/2018 20:02

Aridane · 27/10/2018 20:59

Natasha - too much Philippa Gregory methinks Grin

Aridane · 27/10/2018 21:00

I would like to be in Russia during the Second World War.

Goodness - 26m dead and you want to go back there

UnleashTheBulsara · 27/10/2018 21:01

Not as exciting as Rome or London maybe, but I'd love to go back in time (various points) to see my village growing from its earliest beginnings to its present day. It gets a Domesday book mention so there was something here from before the 11th century. Probably not very much but I do find local history quite compelling. So I'd start there.

Then London pre-Great Fire of London (the first one) then the Great Fire of 1666. But there are so many historically interesting places to see, it would be hard to choose if you are restricted to very few time travels!

poorpaws · 27/10/2018 21:17

I’d be Ann Boleyn, at the beginning when Henry the eighth adored her. I have always felt a great affinity with her. I would want to find out if she really teased him to become queen or if she really loved him as she declared later on. Obviously I wouldn’t want to be her at the end, I
value my head.

Dlux · 27/10/2018 21:29

@UnleashTheBulsara what a great idea about your village. @poorpaws but then you would be posting an "AIBU to date my DS ex Lover? Oh, he is also married"

fantasmasgoria1 · 27/10/2018 21:38

Me age 18 knowing everything I know now. I would immediately go and find my fiancé!

QueenofLouisiana · 27/10/2018 21:38

Either the court of CharlesII (ideally with unbuilt plague immunity) in the style of a Forever Amber. Or a rich (obviously) Georgian lady- all curricles and walks in the long gallery.

I should give up Georgette Hayer and Philippa Gregory books, I think.
