My DD (9) has just asked if she can be a supervillain when she grows up. Should I be worried?

So now I'm collecting! What do/did your kids want to be? Go on, make us laugh!

My 3 year old wants to be a lollipop lady because 'when I am big I will be a lady and I will help people cross the Road'

Eminybob · 26/10/2018 08:08

I answered upthread about ds wanting to be a train driver. I just asked him what sort of trains he was going to drive. He said, just one, Thomas. Quite a niche profession then Hmm

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 26/10/2018 08:15

With quite a lot of competition, I think, Eminybob!

FaithInfinity · 26/10/2018 08:44

DD (5) is going to be a teacher in the day and a nurse at night. I asked when she planned to sleep but she said It’s okay Mummy, I’ll finish being a nurse at 8 o’clock!. Not sure she understands the amount of planning teachers do!

pukekos · 26/10/2018 09:06

Dd(4) wants to be an articect (apparently this is definitely not the same as an architect) or a rainbow...

BeautyQueenFromMars · 26/10/2018 09:11

DS wanted to be a shop assistant in our local shop, a van driver and a builder, so he could build me a big house. He was planning to do all 3 jobs at the same time.
He then moved on to making a living entirely from making YouTube videos. From his room. In my house (the one we were in at the time, as he is no longer planning on building me one). Using equipment he bought with the money he made from making said YouTube videos. Think he got slightly confused about how it works Grin.

DD, 4, has varying ambitions. this week she wants to be a dinosaur that takes part in parades and little red riding hood (because she has a basket full of treats). Last week she wanted to be a talking dog in space.

A ninja spy policeman. He told a policeman this in the summer and was told they're setting new departments all the time so maybe.. he's 5 x

blamethewitchescat · 26/10/2018 17:15

Ds, 5, wants to be a roller-coaster design engineer, specifically so he can build one under the sea with a metal tunnel for it go go through with glass around the outside so the sea doesn't make the screws fall out. He also wants to know if two boys can live together and have a baby.

DryAsThingysFootwear · 26/10/2018 17:27

I wanted to mainly be a pop star, while also being a part time hairdresser.

RunSweatLaughAndLatte · 26/10/2018 17:32

Mine wants to flip burgers for McDonald's!

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 26/10/2018 17:35

Aw! My Ds once walked into a subway carriage, plonked himself down heavily, sighed and said "When are we going to actually fight crime, Mum?!" The people opposite cracked up.

He's also been guilty of taking the "what do you want to do?" question too literally; looking all worried and saying "I don't know...maybe clean something?". I can only assume he thought he was being asked what saleable skills he has right now!

fantasmasgoria1 · 26/10/2018 18:05

My dd when young wanted to be a fairy!

motortroll · 26/10/2018 18:46

In a pshe lesson in secondary school (age 13)I wrote down (I know cos I found the paper in the random to my mum kept) that I would either be the First Lady formula 1 driver....or a secondary geography teacher.

And I am........

A secondary geography teacher. Obviously I favour king hours and lower pay...why not?

Bizarrely I have no recollection of writing the teacher bit and didn't really seriously consider teaching until 3 years after my degree.....geography of course!

When I was a TA in Y1, we had a PHSE lesson on ambitions and what they wanted to be when they grew up. After lots of discussion and looking at ideas, they all had to write "When I grow up I want to be..." and draw a picture.

One boy wrote "When I grow up I want to be a teacher because I would like to be in charge of the fidgit spinners."

Another child (who had arrived earlier in the year speaking no English) drew a beautiful picture of himself and his best friend with a load of popcorn. Thinking he hadn't understood the assignment I took him over to the computer and showed him lots of pictures of jobs he might want to do, but he kept saying "no, no, popcorn!". So, eventually I showed him a picture of a movie theater popcorn seller, to which he got very excited and said "yes! yes! popcorn!". So I helped him caption his picture "When I grow up I want to be a popcorn seller."

Helpmemyhairisterrible · 26/10/2018 21:23

Glossymare · 26/10/2018 21:25

I wanted to be a burglar or the queen at 6 years of age.

Scrumptiousbears · 26/10/2018 21:27

My DD 4 told me the other day she wanted to be a vet when she grows up and after that she will be a princess. 👑

Today she wanted to be a shop keeper to make nice sweets.

Welliejellie · 26/10/2018 21:28

When my ds was 3 he wanted to be a lollypop man as then he would only have to work an hour a day!

Moonflower12 · 26/10/2018 21:50

My son played Herod in the school nativity. He was very good- teachers and other parents said so too.
He said on our way home, after receiving lots of praise from people, 'I know what I want to be when I grow up!' I said ' an actor?' 'No' he replied ' a nasty king!'

He's now 21 and in recruitment but there's time yet....

RandomUsernameHere · 26/10/2018 21:56

DD (4) a vet or a princess
DS (4) in the red arrows, fire fighter, police officer, paramedic, builder, work in an office, footballer depending on how he's feeling
