I fucking hate Facebook

I don't want an all-singing all-dancing facebook account. I only created one to be able to read the posts of people who work in the same field as me. It never takes long before I get fecking locked out because facebook insists I give a phone number before letting me log in. I don't want to give a phone number. I don't want to put in any personal details. It now appears I can't navigate past this security point. So I remain locked out. I fucking hate it. Why can't I just browse without having to surrender my personal information?

FB is fucking crap.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 25/10/2018 09:43

I have been on fb for 12 years and never been locked out, when it asks for a phone number you click the 'no' box. job done.

ShirleyPhallus · 25/10/2018 09:44

I have never given my phone number to Facebook!

needsahouseboy · 25/10/2018 09:45

I’ve never had to give my number. I just say no

Bettalina · 25/10/2018 09:45

There is no 'no' box. I'll try & post a pic of what I see..

Wow they've had my phone number for a decade and never rung! Grin

Bettalina · 25/10/2018 09:46

This is the screen I get & you can't navigate past it.

I fucking hate Facebook

I have a spare SIM card I use for shit like this

twoheaped · 25/10/2018 09:49

I run a business page on FB.
I got a lot of my initial customers via it before our reputation was spread word of mouth.
So although you may find it annoying, it has been an absolute God send for our business. It's not all bad Smile

ZeroFuchsGiven · 25/10/2018 09:57

have you tried logging in on a computer insted of from the app?

Bettalina · 25/10/2018 09:59

This message is from logging on on a computer. I've never tried the app, don't want that crap on my phone.

I entered a fake number, it was accepted.

Doje · 25/10/2018 10:01

Oh heck, if I have to put in a phone number, that's the end for me and Facebook.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 25/10/2018 10:03

You must have clicked the box to add phone number to have gotten to that screen, Like I said I always click the no box and it lets me straight in.

Bettalina · 25/10/2018 10:03

Nice try perpetually -I put in a fake no. but it instantly said 'this isn't a valid phone no.' and it appears it will then send a verification code to the phone that I have to type in to log-in to FB.

OP posts:
Bettalina · 25/10/2018 10:05

Sorry I didn't word that well. It seems you are sent a verification code to that phone no. that you then have to enter to get access to FB. I can't stand all this shit. Just let me in to browse will you?

OP posts:
Bettalina · 25/10/2018 10:06

If I type 'Facebook' into my search bar, this is the first page that comes up. I haven't clicked any other box

OP posts:
ZeroFuchsGiven · 25/10/2018 10:07

Have you tried the log out button in the corner on your ss?

Bettalina · 25/10/2018 10:07

I type only 'Facebook' into my search bar and it instantly changes to this: www.facebook.com/checkpoint/block/

OP posts:
ZeroFuchsGiven · 25/10/2018 10:08

What happens if you just type in www.facebook.com and not go from your history. Or try using another browser.

FruminousBandersnatch · 25/10/2018 10:09

Try clearing your cookies?

Bettalina · 25/10/2018 10:10

I've had it. Yes I did log out. But now it doesn't recognise my email address to log back in! So fucking frustrating.

Amidoingtheright · 25/10/2018 10:10

I put a fake number in too. Worked for me but I used my phone and not a computer. Maybe try setting it up on your phone and then deleting the app and log in from the computer.

Bettalina · 25/10/2018 10:11

With cleared cookies & only typing in 'Facebook', I get the checkpoint/block message come up

Bettalina · 25/10/2018 10:14

Amidoing Though you put a fake no. in from your phone, with modern data saving methods, I suspect FB would have recorded the number of the device you connected from, regardless of what number you put in.
