Calling Scottish MNers- what's the phrase?

My mum would have used it if something was particularly disgusting/ smelly, something like it could have walked on its own?

(She passed away a few years ago so I can't ask her myself).

It's taken me right back to childhood, it's on the edge of my brain but it's not there!

I know all of those. It's definitely along the lines of 'could have walked on its own'

(that really has no connection to smelliness,!)

Do you know which part of Scotland your mum came from?

She was Glaswegian.

Describing something as 'a mogre' means messy. Probably not that then.

Are you sure there's a specific phrase? I would just say "his socks were so minging they could have walked by themselves!", for example. I've definitely heard that phrasing before but don't know of any other expressions which could mean the same.

Definitely something along those lines, something tells me there's a different combination of words though.

I've heard dirling used in that sense. Not glaswegian though 😊
