What time does your Reception Age child go to bed?

Just wondering this because my reception age dc seems tired these days and wondering if their bedtime should be brought back a bit (7.30 pm - lights off after bedtime story etc.)
I think dh is worried about dc going to bed too early because they might start getting up earlier but I am not convinced this is always the case.
Anyone?

Between 7-7.30pm, and up between 7-7.30am. She needs her 12 hours.

We aim for 7. If he;s had a particularly busy (weekend) day, it's 6.30. Fridays he stays up a little later - 7.30.

There is an argument, based on cortisol levels, that children who go to bed overtired wake up due to excess stress hormone. So a later bedtime does not mean a later wake up.

We found during a particularly gruelling stage when he was younger if we put him to bed earlier, he slept better and later.

Oh, and our boy has 11 hours almost on the dot - he turned 4 in August

Lights off at 8pm, currently getting up by 6.30 at the latest

MrBull · 22/10/2018 17:37

7ish (through to 7ish). 12 hours needed here too. If not more since starting school!

Earlywalker · 22/10/2018 17:40

6.30-7, always has 12 hours.

LBOCS2 · 22/10/2018 17:44

DD's bedtime in reception (and now in y1) was 8 for 8.30, up again at 8am.

Lavenderdays · 22/10/2018 17:48

I think I will definitely aim for a 7.00 pm bedtime and see how it goes.

Mine goes up at 6.30 and is always asleep bt 6.40. He wakes around 6.30am

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 22/10/2018 17:56

When DS2 was in reception he went to bed at 7.15, but he'd usually crashed out on the sofa for an hour after school. He did that until yr2.

queenbeetofive · 22/10/2018 18:08

7:30 and most of the time she's asking to go bed about 7:15, sleeps through to 7-7:30am

NerrSnerr · 22/10/2018 18:24

Mine goes up about 7.30 and is asleep by 8. If tired she'll go up a bit earlier. She wakes up at about 7 unless her brother wakes her up beforehand

NorthernRunner · 22/10/2018 18:26

Solid 7.30-7 sleeper here. We had a tough period about 12mnths age where 5am get ups were the norm so we brought a gro clock and it’s been amazing!

littleducks · 22/10/2018 18:29

Between 6 and 7 depending on how I judge his mood. 6 on the dot if he is grumpy Wink. Up between 6 and 6.30 as needs to be in school at 7.30

3in4years · 22/10/2018 18:30

8pm. He wakes at 7am.

GreenMeerkat · 22/10/2018 18:31

7pm. Nursery age sister goes at 6.30pm

Juanbablo · 22/10/2018 18:32

6:30-7:00pm. He gets up around 12 hours later.

ADastardlyThing · 22/10/2018 18:32

Both of mine were usually in bed by 9pm at that age and woke themselves up at 7am on the dot.

Rebecca36 · 22/10/2018 18:38

Many years ago but my kid never went to bed much before us or if he did, he'd wake up later. We tried everything but after a while gave up and let him sleep when he wanted to. He was fine and did well.

DrCoconut · 22/10/2018 19:11

My 3 year old falls asleep very late if he has a nap in the afternoon. If he doesn't nap he gets tired by 6 but it's too early for bed as he wakes up around 9 (pm!) ready to party if he goes to bed early. Around 8 is optimal but the hours between 6 and 8 are trying when he's very tired and fractious.

Doofas · 22/10/2018 20:20

Normally asleep by 6:30 at the moment, he's so tired from school we'd struggle to go any later. Doesn't get up until 6:30 when we get up.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 22/10/2018 20:25

7-7:30 pm. I wake her up at 8. On weekends she’ll sleep till half 8-9.

Minniemountain · 22/10/2018 21:01

Asleep at 7.30-8pm. Up at 5.45-6.15am.

hidinginthenightgarden · 22/10/2018 21:04

8pm. Gets up between 6.30-7am.

MindBodyChocolate · 22/10/2018 21:07

We aim for 7.30 but it's usually 8 by the time lights are out. Later on Friday and Saturday, around 8.30.
