I have an outrageous 960. I really need to do some email housekeeping... Can anyone else beat that?

11,704 on the account I use for fb and signing up to groups etc (rarely look at this account)

0 on my day to day account that I check a few times a day

I have zero unread ones. I am pretty good at looking at them as they land and have unsubscribed to promotion emails.

I have plenty of folders set up like reservations/receipts etc and an email is either read and deleted or moved to one of the folders. I regularly go through all the folders (normally at the hairdresser/on a train/ waiting in a queue) and get rid of anything no longer needed.

I think the fact that I have opted out of all news letters/promotion emails makes things easier.

In my defence I think that's 2 email addresses.

Just got down to 250 ish. Deleted loads. Then cleared my deleted folder. THEN purged my deleted folder. This last step recently discovered and I do it regularly. Mainly as it feels as though they are really gone now ?

I am 55, so an ancient crone obviously. I do read my emails - I'm self-employed, so I have to. Important stuff gets dealt with, no messing.

It's subscriptions that bump up the numbers. Decided I'm going to unsubscribe from a few sites, that will get the numbers down.

It was on almost 8,000 before so I've made inroads

15,988. And I delete loads every day. I only keep the 'important' ones.

I share my e-mail with the family though, so they're not all mine and we've had it for 18 years.

The unread emails constantly sits at 999+

Inspired by this thread did a ruthless purge this afternoon and got down from 108,000 unread to 62,000. Searching for any emails from X = DELETE. And unsubscribed from lots - feel empowered 

Lots of them are places like ASOS who practically send an email every day, for years. It soon adds up, then it's game over, you just give up.

OMG - palpitating at the thought of so many emails in an inbox!

Unsubscribe / switch off notifications / use folders, people!

Alternatively, run away screaming and start again with a new email address.

1 unread. It appeared a couple of weeks ago. I can't find it. And I can't get rid of the little red 1. It's driving me mad.

MadeForThis can totally understand the one unread rage, that's infuriating. When you get into five/six figures you think 'what's an extra 10k gonna do!'

3 in my work account.
It doesn’t bother me at all.
Makes my colleague twitch when she sees my personal email on screen

Some people are writing their low numbers as words instead of numbers.

Over 3 email accounts, I have 0 emails. Read and delete. I also do the same with texts.

I only have ones that need to be dealt with so about 35. My sent items is massive though

Agh, this makes me so twitchy! Can't bear messy inboxes and unread emails. My work account has about 4 in the inbox

I have three emails, between them I have 8 emails, all of which function as my To Do list (two of which I sent myself).

Read, Reply, Delete - everytime

And unsubscribe habitually from all marketing emails except the good sale ones

This makes me feel so much better! I have 500 in my main account.

3, and I'm getting very twitchy about it. I can't move them into folders until I've dealt with them and for various reasons I can't deal with these ones immediately (e.g. one is for a ticket I need to book on 29th October only, so it's going to hang around in the inbox for far too long).
