I am wanting to get some inspiration for a holiday next year and also I will admit I'm being nosey! (Please don't answer if you're not comfortable)

I will start.... myself and my DH went on our honeymoon to Singapore and bali for 2 weeks. (No children) We paid £1500 each! I did everything myself and booked all my hotels via quidco to get some cash back!

Please don't see this post as a brag post, for your info I was actually ill for 7 days with food poisoning so not as glam as it sounds! very gutted =(

A week up in Stonehaven near Aberdeen, 2 adults and 2 small dc. Drove and self catered in an air bnb. Probably spent about 900 all in. It was a wonderful week, and we will definetly return.

AnnaMagnani · 20/10/2018 20:21

Think we spent about £1500 total on our honeymoon - 2 weeks in Italy.

This year prob less than half that on 9 days exploring Thessaloniki and Northern Greece. Can't beat 3 courses + wine for 2 for 30 euros Grin

Summersun111 · 20/10/2018 20:25

Anna- we went to Italy two years ago beautiful country! We are in the same boat, our budget will be half of ours this year! I am sure there will be lovely places we can go!

World's our oyster haha (kind of..)

NIce hotel in the UK. Me, DH and 3 kids. About 2.5k once we’d paid travel, food, activities etc.

MrsAmaretto · 20/10/2018 20:27

1 trip to Aberdeen in August. 1 adult + 2 children in 1 cabin, plus car = £600 return. Not including food and drink. 14hours.

Oh and that includes an islander discount.

We have to cover that cost no matter where we go in UK or abroad. It’s astronomical and we are thinking of moving as it’s getting too expensive to visit family & friends/ theatre/ zoo etc. let alone go “on holiday”

CaseStudyResearch · 20/10/2018 20:27

We did a week in France (approx. £800) then flew to Greece for a week (approx 3k).

We also did another week in Greece recently which was 2k.

Next year we will probably do 10 days in South Africa, then 3 weeks in Australia, so we need to start saving for that.

Pascha · 20/10/2018 20:28

£550 long weekend in the Peak District. 2 adults 2 children. I'm here now.

CaseStudyResearch · 20/10/2018 20:31

Oh we also did 3 long weekends in Cornwall, Cotswolds and Dublin - probably £200 each person for each trip.

Mummadeeze · 20/10/2018 20:33

Lots of fun and very relaxing.

DrCoconut · 20/10/2018 20:44

£180 for 4 nights glamping at the seaside. It was August so couldn't get a cheaper rate. With travel and spends it probably came to about £250 but it was our main summer holiday.

Sammy867 · 20/10/2018 20:45

This year we did a week with the entire family in the lakes in a massive cabin (12 of us) for £100 each. It was ridiculously hot and perfect weather to be point we felt like we were abroad.

Last year we did Tenerife all inclusive for £1500 for the three of us for a week.

The year before was Australia for 2 weeks for £2000 altogether for us all.

The last holiday before that was three years ago and we travelled around France and Italy on the trains and it cost £1500 with £500 spends. That was an amazing holiday as we did Venice, Rome, Florence, Milan, Paris, London, Switzerland and a variety of stops in between. We booked it all individually and wasn’t too expensive even though we picked good hotels and the trains are very easy and cheap.

I’m a bit of a Bargain hunter and can usually find some good deals and book it individually rather than through a tour operator and it works out better for us

edwinbear · 20/10/2018 20:46

We went to Mexico, 2 adults and 2 kids it was about £8k. 3rd time to that particular hotel as it’s so good.

AliasGrape · 20/10/2018 20:46

£500 ish- visited a relative in Tenerife for a week in Feb, the north of Tenerife is beautiful and we try to go at least once a year. Cost was flights and car hire as no accommodation costs, but obviously spending money on top. (I also went again for 10 days in the summer but without DP but that was to look after my relative as she recovered from a big operation so not a holiday)

Then in the summer a week in Dorset, we got an absolute steal of an air bnb cottage with views over Chesil beach, around £300 if I remember rightly, it was just perfect too. Then add fuel for the journey down from the north, plus food etc as self catering.

We’d normally be having another holiday around now, October half term, but not got the budget for it this year.

thaegumathteth · 20/10/2018 20:46
