Half Job Harry / Harriete

Enlighten me with your OH's half job anecdotes

Hangs laundry and leaves it outside for 5 days.

Notices out of date yogurt, takes out of the fridge and leaves on counter for 4 days, or until I deal with it, whichever comes first (second always comes first)

Lighthearted. No "you should count yourself like that ...." please 😁

My half a job harry’s MO is to empty the dishwasher and stack all the plates/ bowls etc on the worktop/ table/ island, thereby literally creating twice the work. It drives me crackers 😑

Oops I think I'm guilty of this Blush

I make food then think 'i will clear the side down in a bit' and forget about it, DH will go into the kitchen before me and grumble about it while he wipes it down. It really annoys him. DS has inherited it, he will empty the bin but not put a new bag in.

dontticklethetoad · 20/10/2018 13:03

Yes, dh excellent at DIY. Always ready to do a job. Also surprised that putting the tools away is part of the job.

I never used to put laundry away, until one of the cats started peeing in the the laundry basket and my hand has been forced Grin

I'm the half a job Harriet in my house. I did a load of washing this morning that is still waiting to be hung to dry (3 hours after it finished). The washing I did last week is still on top of the drawers rather than in them.

I just can't be arsed to finish the job. I don't care enough about the finished job to make sure I do it.

batshitbetty · 20/10/2018 13:10

I am rubbish at putting stuff away (shopping, washing etc) and almost go blind to it - drives DP mad

He is another one who doesn't wipe sides down, he also stacks the dishwasher but doesn't turn it on, and puts stuff away but leaves the drawers and cupboard doors wide open 😂

Twotabbycats · 20/10/2018 13:30

MawkishTwaddle my DH also does half a job on the dishwasher emptying and leaves exactly the same items on the worktop! And 'complicated' things don't make it in there in the first place, eg the garlic press if it needs cleaning out...

Also if he ever takes the bin out (and he never notices, I have to ask) he will never put a new bin liner in the kitchen bin

MawkishTwaddle · 20/10/2018 13:49

TwoTabbyCats YY to the binliner. I'm starting to wonder if my DP is leading a double life...

n0ne · 20/10/2018 13:54

DH always leaves food waste on the side - egg shells, vegetable peel, whatever. The food waste bin is under the sink, you just need to open the cupboard, but he purposes a specific clean bowl to put all the waste in, and leaves it on the side. Well annoying.

n0ne · 20/10/2018 13:56

Oh wait, I've got a better one! When he changes the baby, he very often reappears with her trouserless! Like 80% of the time. Why would you undress the baby, take off the nappy, clean her, put on a new nappy, do up the babygro but then think, fuck it, can't be bothered putting her trousers/tights on?!

Mummy2one2016 · 20/10/2018 13:58

I could have created this about my dh.

Empties bin does put a new bag in

Loads dishwasher doesnt wipe units down or clean sink.

Baths baby but doesn't think he should then clean bath and pick up nappy of floor.

I could probably list more but would be here all day.

rainbowtrain · 20/10/2018 20:27

@MsAwesomeDragon I love the honesty 🙌🏻🤗

My DH doesn't see tidying up as part of the job. He does the job, then leaves stuff out.
