Losing my mind over the fit of my engagement ring

Been wearing ring two weeks, was slightly too big so took it to be resized. Agonised over getting the size right and took it down a size and a half which is only about half a mm. I’ve picked it up today and it seems to fit, no bulging, slides on and off reasonably easily but without feeling loose, but there’s a tingle under my nail now like it’s too small. Am I just obsessing about it because I’m not used to wearing rings? Does it need resizing again. How long shall I leave it to see? Argh!

If it slides on and off easily enough and there's no bulging then it fits fine.

Well that’s what I thought, but the tip of my finger and only that finger has been tingling since I put it on.

Wear it for a week or so and then decide. It's probably just because you're not used to wearing a ring on that finger

I hope so. Just feels odd that it’s so obviously tingling on that finger, don’t want to inadvertently cut off the circulation, but it doesn’t actually feel tight. I’ll try giving in a week and see how it feels. Amazing how point nothing of a mm can make such a difference.

It doesn't sound right for it to be tingling. You could get it extended

FekkoTheLawyer · 19/10/2018 14:52

If it sad too tight I don't think it wpd tingle!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 19/10/2018 14:58

My thoughts exactly! But it spins round fine, no bulging, no obvious tightness.

I’ve only just got it made smaller. Maybe in needs to go back up half a size? Such a pain.

I was advised that the best fit was if you were able to fit a cocktail stick between the ring and your finger.

Merrz · 19/10/2018 15:11

Unless your finger starts to go blue lol i would honestly give it a week before you do anything else. It doesn't sound like it's too tight and you don't want to make it bigger again and it land up falling off.

MarthaArthur · 19/10/2018 15:11

If it slides on and of easily with no tugging then the tingling is psychosymatic.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 19/10/2018 15:25

I could definitely fit a cocktail stick in there.

You might well be right on the psychosomatic. I suffer with obsessive thoughts and I think it might just have got stuck in my head. I’ll try to leave it a week and see how I go.

Thank you for the voice of reason as always MN

Yes its just anxiety talking op. Your finger is totally fine and sounds like your ring is a perfect fit. I have these thought too. Congratulations on the engagement!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 19/10/2018 15:55

Thanks Martha, luckily he loves me even if I am mad as a box of frogs Smile

Grin Flowers Wine being a mad frogbox can be endearing lol. Are you willing to share a photo? Curious to see this ring lol

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 19/10/2018 16:12

Can’t capture the sparkle but it’s a diamond in a 6 prong setting that looks a bit like a flower underneath. I love it (chose it myself so I’d better!)

That is stunning Wine 😍

FekkoTheLawyer · 19/10/2018 16:18

It's very pretty. Does look a bit snug though.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 19/10/2018 16:19

Thanks Smile hopefully it’s not cutting off my circulation and killing my finger from the inside!

FekkoTheLawyer · 19/10/2018 16:20

Nah your finger would go blue before it dropped off.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 19/10/2018 16:20

Fekko thess pictures were taken before it was resized when it was almost slipping off

DaffoDeffo · 19/10/2018 16:20

looks fine

I also get that weird feeling when I have stuff on me that I'm not used to Grin. As everyone else says, give it a week then see how it feels.

I live in terror of having to have a cast put on me as I know I'd be spending the whole time thinking my limb was about to fall off due to it cutting off my circulation. I hate stuff on my body that I'm not used to. Apparently it's a condition called cast claustrophobia Grin

Whatthefoxgoingon · 19/10/2018 16:23

Lol I’ve gained weight since my wedding many moons ago, I can only get my rings off with s good soaping Grin you’ll be fine, leave a little room for cakes...i mean baby weight....

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 19/10/2018 16:24

Deffo I’ve never had a cast but I’d probably feel the same! I think I’ve got some sensory processing issues, I struggle a lot with clothes and fabric in general. I never usually wear jewellery except for the occasional necklace.

OP posts:
MarthaArthur · 19/10/2018 16:25

The cast is a good point. I cant wear poloneck sweaters as i feel like im being strangled.to death 😂
