Losing my mind over the fit of my engagement ring

Been wearing ring two weeks, was slightly too big so took it to be resized. Agonised over getting the size right and took it down a size and a half which is only about half a mm. I’ve picked it up today and it seems to fit, no bulging, slides on and off reasonably easily but without feeling loose, but there’s a tingle under my nail now like it’s too small. Am I just obsessing about it because I’m not used to wearing rings? Does it need resizing again. How long shall I leave it to see? Argh!

Oddly I can cope with polo necks, but only if not very tight

Maybe it is a sensory thing with you. I cant wear bracelets or necklaces cant bear the feeling.

It might be. It was definitely too big before, I’m sure of that. But now I think I need to just give it time and see how I go. Definitely don’t want it slipping off, I know how much it cost 😬

lol at you lot

I HAVE FOUND MY TRIBE

I also can't wear a lot of jewellery, polo necks make me feel like I'm going to have a panic attack and I only like soft clothes.

I got to 45 before I could wear leggings or skinny jeans and I only did it then because my daughter shamed me by saying YOU CANNOT WEAR BAGGY CLOTHES FOREVER

so yeah, I totally get it

if I end up in hospital with a broken limb, I'm calling you lot because you are the only ones who will understand Grin

Welcome to the Madhouse! I can wear tight clothes, but not if I can feel any labels, seams or buttons. If I can feel my sock seams in my shoes it drive me completely nuts.

Your ring is beautiful!

I got engaged in July and got my finger measured before hand so the ring was the correct size however my finger did swell up and we spent 15 minutes with a ice pack on my finger (had a picnic so had some luckily!) before it went back down.

I took it off a week ago and put it back on a hour later and my finger decided to swell again...it went down after 5 mins but I think just where my finger isn’t used to a ring and I’m so conscious of it it makes everything seem worse!

Try it for a week and see how you get on :)

Just to let you know the ring’s been fine all day today, it’s definitely the perfect fit, not too tight, not too loose. I’m just nuts! Thanks all for the emotional support Smile

You sound lovely, op, great sense of humour. Your ring is gorgeous, and I'm jealous of your nails! Congratulations on your engagement Smile

Thanks! The nails are slightly less nice since the picture was taken, but knowing an engagement was on the horizon was the thing that finally got me to stop biting my nails after 30 years. The ring deserved a nice hand to be on Grin

Ihad mine 8 years and it still drives me nuts. Had it resized twice and it still spins round and annoys me. Problem is my knuckles are much wider than the bottom of my finger and so any smaller and I can’t get it on or off.

mumonashoestring · 21/10/2018 09:32

Don't forget, once you add your wedding ring your engagement ring will sit higher up your finger, so it's best to start off with it a little on the tight side.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 21/10/2018 09:58

Yeh I’ve factored in wedding ring, the bottom of my finger is actually slightly smaller than just above where e-ring will get pushed to, so I probably need it the other way round
