Have you had to put the heat on?

Not very exciting, sorry!

Are we the only ones? We try and wait until as late in the year as possible to put the heat on, and we make sure to use sweaters and slippers and that, but still!
We have had snow , it back up to 4°C, but going to get colder again.
I was hoping to make it to the end of October at least!

Anyone else had to crack and put the heat on?

Yes. Every now and then!

Chipsahoy · 19/10/2018 11:29

We had it on first thing. Didn't want to bath baby when house was so cold. It may go on later too if we are chilly.

ClashCityRocker · 19/10/2018 11:34

Mines been coming on for weeks.

We don't turn it off, just have it thermostat controlled so when it gets below eighteen it kicks in, regardless of the time of year.

Frosty66611 · 19/10/2018 11:38

I’ve had mine on for about 3 hours a day for the past 3-4 weeks. If we have had a warmer day then I’ve turned it off. Looks like the temp will start to drop quite a lot by the end of next week so i’ll Probably need it on more as my house doesn’t keep in the warmth very well

GoopWrithing · 19/10/2018 11:40

Yes, every now and again. More to prevent damp, though. The temperature hasn't been too bad, with a warm clothes on.

thenightsky · 19/10/2018 11:42

I've had to have it come on to warm the bathroom first thing these last two cold mornings.

The last two evenings we've needed it on for an hour or two when it goes dark.

formerbabe · 19/10/2018 11:43

Not yet... we're in London. It's been very mild...I love it when October is like this...makes the winter feel shorter.

SpoonBlender · 19/10/2018 11:45

We set our thermostat at 18C and let it do its thing. It has indeed been doing its thing!

bagpiss · 19/10/2018 11:46

Blimey, I've been having mine on for an hour and half twice a day since early September 😁

SixToEightInchesOfSnow · 19/10/2018 11:46

He’ll yes! I don’t be cold in my own home! We’re in the North West of England so it’s pretty cold already.

SixToEightInchesOfSnow · 19/10/2018 11:47

Hell and won’t. I’d already corrected those once 🙈

allmycats · 19/10/2018 11:49

Ours is all on thermostat so kicks in when it gets cold enough for our setting (19) - it has come on in the night a few times already, but as it is still quite mild not very much.

NorthEndGal · 19/10/2018 11:50

I am in Canada, so winter can start anywhere from September through January, and can end as last as June.
I try and keep the house constantly comfortable, I still don't want to have to pay any sooner than required though.

North York's , we've put wood stove on a couple of times but I'm determined to not put radiators on as long as possible

Delatron · 19/10/2018 12:13

If I’m cold the heating goes on and it’s been on a fair bit recently.

I guess it’s a cost issue and saving money? I refuse to be cold in my own home though.

MouseholeCat · 19/10/2018 12:20

Yes, but mainly because it dropped below zero outside and DH had a cold so I turned it on artificially for a morning. It's now back to being off as I don't like to use it until November if possible.

Delatron · 19/10/2018 13:06

I decide by temperature not month.

I put it on in August last year. My heating bills are rather larger though.

Starwednesday · 19/10/2018 13:08

South west here, no heating yet, in fact I’ve been a bit hot a night

Beansonapost · 19/10/2018 13:13

Mornings... and evenings after bath time... 2 small children.

Very efficient flat plus heats up in about 20 mins. We are north west facing... evening sun does help... but morning can be cold.

I open windows in the day time.

With warm clothes and throws DH and I are comfy in the evenings.

We previously lived in Glasgow and the heating was set to 18 and was chipping in this time last year! It was cold!

Now down south and enjoying this "warmth"!!

OnceUponATimeInAmerica · 19/10/2018 13:22

Thermostat at 18. Aga in kitchen and separate heating circuits upstairs and downstairs. It came on (just) for the first time this morning.

OnceUponATimeInAmerica · 19/10/2018 13:23

Oh, upstairs only. Aga still doing its thing keeping downstairs warm enough.

Stupomax · 19/10/2018 14:24

Yes, I've somehow reconciled myself with this being yet another year where I fail to win the 'kept her heating off till November' medal. 12 years in a row. Oh well.

Noonemournsthewicked · 19/10/2018 14:27

Now and then.
Only felt properly cold once, the rest of the few times it's been more of a luxury. I've just had my already very reasonable direct Debit reduced so I'm living large!

sugarbum · 19/10/2018 14:30

its on a thermostat, so it takes the heating up to 20 degrees when we're in the house.

CaseStudyResearch · 19/10/2018 14:44

South West and not yet. We’re in a block of flats and get a lot of sunlight, the thermostat is saying it’s not dipped below 24 degrees inside yet.

We’ve got throws on the sofa and a 15 tog duvet as well, so going to try and hold off until well into November.
