Do baked beans belong on a roast dinner?

Inspired by my recent carvery trip with a friend who came back with a pile of Heinz on her plate and after I asked why she chose beans I was told "well they were there for us to have!"... Cue her going red when I said they were probably for the fish and chips, she thought the place was just selling carvery foods. Blush Grin

MarcieBluebell · 17/10/2018 21:43

I have beans with a roast. Goes with chicken best though. Sometimes even have cheesy beans.

GoodbyeSummer · 17/10/2018 21:43

NO! Baked beans belong on toast and that's it.
A good roast is: Yorkshire puddings, both roast and mashed potato, some type of roast meat (pork, chicken, lamb, beef), sprouts (which are much nicer when roasted), roast carrots and parsnips and a handful of steamed veg. Possibly some stuffing as well. All drowned in lovely, thick but smooth gravy.
