I'm trying to get DH to the GP's surgery as he ran 100 miles at the weekend and now his foot/ankle is very swollen and red and he can't walk on it.
He has done a few of these 100 mile runs and nothing like this has happened before.
It's also very red and swollen (for him)
Do you think it's worth me continuing to nag at him.
He might listen to loads of other people in my computer tho.

Glad he's getting medical attention. Hope he makes a speedy recovery!

apparently its nothing, he is ready to be collected and they told him to take ibuprofen.
bit peeved we have wasted their time.

You havent wasted anyones time. A mate of mine lost her dad to something that started similarly but developed into sepsis and they couldn't do anything for him. Yiu are absolutley right to get it checked out

Definitely not wasted time. To answer your earlier question he sat there for four hours, can’t remember diagnostic process but he was packed off with antibiotics and told to rest it. Always better to be safe than sorry though! Glad he’s ok. Tbf after 100 miles id imagine resting up a bit wouldn’t be the worst idea!

Stephisaur · 15/10/2018 19:43

I can see that he’s already been seen to, but just to add...

He needs to apply the RICE principle:

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

Frozen peas are good for icing the joint (but not directly on the skin) and he needs to elevate his foot above his heart. It should help with the pain and swelling.

I also recommend ankle supports (I get mine from boots). Hope his ankle gets better soon :)

We have ice packs in the freezer and he has my foot pillow, he says he is going to work tomorrow 😖

And did he? Is he hopping?

6demandingchildren · 16/10/2018 15:03

Yes he went to work on crutches

He's mad.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 16/10/2018 20:25

Idiot. I've had 3 bouts of cellulitis, and each time I was off for up to a week. Also if he gets the antibiotic diarrhoea he won't be popular. My ring piece was like the Japanese flag for weeks.

PhilomenaButterfly · 16/10/2018 20:31

You have such a way with words Disgrace. Were you the proud owner of an arse cushion?

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 16/10/2018 20:55

No, but I found out more about Anusol than I cared to. Did you it contains more cocoa butter than Cadbury's Dairy Milk?

He has beautiful feet for someone who just ran 100 miles! I had bandages to my ankles and couldn't walk for a week after my 100km!

6demandingchildren · 17/10/2018 09:44

He uses Pro sheild on his feet and he puts rubbing alcohol on them as well, he learnt that one after his first 100 mile run.
Is still very swollen but the redness is going down and it's not as painful.DH has his own business so needs to work. His friend who does these mad things as well pulled out at 50 miles as he had an injury and obviously more of a brain than DH.

OP posts:
PhilomenaButterfly · 17/10/2018 09:47

That doesn't surprise me in the least Disgrace. Dairy Milk hardly contains any.

PhilomenaButterfly · 17/10/2018 09:49

obviously more brain than DH. 😂

I signed up to mine on a whim 2 weeks before so the only prep I did was buy brand new footwear Blush
