Help me get DH to the doctor's

I'm trying to get DH to the GP's surgery as he ran 100 miles at the weekend and now his foot/ankle is very swollen and red and he can't walk on it.
He has done a few of these 100 mile runs and nothing like this has happened before.
It's also very red and swollen (for him)
Do you think it's worth me continuing to nag at him.
He might listen to loads of other people in my computer tho.

Could be something serious like cellulitis, or even DVT. Get seen ASAP!

Imnotaslimjim · 15/10/2018 14:37

Student nurse here! Please do go and get it looked at, A&E if necessary. It does look like cellulitis and that can turn nasty very quickly. If you develop any red lines trailing away from the red mark that means it's going into your blood stream and can cause sepsis

Practice nurse or walk in or GP today - although I suspect you'll find yourselves at a walk in anyway. Because if he leaves it and it's something nasty then he will miss his next run as he won't be able to train and then his willy will fall off because he won't be Iron Man any more

EleanorLavish · 15/10/2018 14:51

Are you heading to the walk —hobble— in?

6demandingchildren · 15/10/2018 14:54

going to drop him off at A&e as the pain is getting worse.

Could also be a stress fracture thinking about it, if he ran 100 miles in a short space of time

lolaflores · 15/10/2018 14:58

Check his life insurance policy because if he doesn't go and it is cellulitis it could turn into blood poisoning and well.... that isn't a pleasant outcome if untreated but I would like to know if I was well looked after because of his bloody mindedness.
That looks very worrying.
Id be annoyed as hell if he is so stubborn. Offer to take a saw to it now and save anyone else the bother.

LondonLassInTheCountry · 15/10/2018 15:01

Reckon that will be a IV job
Looks like an infection of some sort

SimplySteve · 15/10/2018 15:05

Definitely needs checking ASAP. Could develop into something serious given the speed at which it's spreading.

CoperCabana · 15/10/2018 15:07

Glad you are taking him to A&E. Make sure he definitely goes in!

SinisterClownWatchingYou · 15/10/2018 15:26

More likely to be a stress fracture. Go somewhere they have x ray.

onalongsabbatical · 15/10/2018 15:33

Hope he's all right soon OP. Glad we've helped. It looks worrying. Let us know.

6demandingchildren · 15/10/2018 15:52

I dropped him off outside a&e myself, he hasn't messaged me so I'm assuming they are looking at him.
I will go back at 5:30 to see what's going on with him.

Glad he went OP.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 15/10/2018 15:59

Glad you managed to make him go. That does sound rather worrying! Hope it's nothing too serious.

notapizzaeater · 15/10/2018 16:10

Why are men so bloody useless.... hope he's getting the right treatment now

6demandingchildren · 15/10/2018 16:42

he has had an xray, but not seen a doctor yet, he says the pain is getting worse since he got there. he really isnt one to complain like he has been doing as its usually him looking after me.

Silly man!

Spamfrittersforeveryone · 15/10/2018 16:44

Glad he went.
Human bodies aren’t designed to run 100 miles.

6demandingchildren · 15/10/2018 16:44

hotpink he is totally nuts, well him and about 300 other men/women who think running is fun.
I get exhausted running a bath!

Cellulitis was my first thought, Mr Dolly had a similar issue last year and I posted on here so the vipers could ‘encourage’ him in too. Turned out it was cellulitis so he was suitably contrite (until he recovered and went back to being Mr Macho...)

6demandingchildren · 15/10/2018 16:47

spam thats what I have been telling him, but he seems to like it and i get a weekend away in a hotel so i dont mind too much.
