Oh goody.

When I was little, I shared a room with my sister but had the bed closest to the door. It was an awful winter's night and we'd been in bed for maybe an hour when the door opened and something came in. It was like a huge black blob with bright red eyes. I literally could not move because I was so scare but knew I had to protect my sister so I tried to get the lamp on.

It attacked me, scratching my scalp, face and arms. I'm not sure what happened after that but when I woke up next it was morning. I thought it was a bad dream until I looked in the mirror. Both eyes were basly bloodshot, I was covered in nasty scratches and the bulb in the lamp had blown.

One of the most terrifying experiences of my life and we moved house shortly after. My poor parents were convinced someone had been in the house but all of the doors and windows were closed and locked.

This happpened quite a few years ago now. I had to nip to the petrol station over the road to get milk and then took the scenic route home (through the park). It was dark and I thought someone was behind me, but there was no one there. Got to the door that went into the flats and the bushes next to it rustled like there was a high wind (there wasn't.) I kinda freaked out and hared my way inside, shut the door and ran up the stairs to my flat and it feels like something is chasing me. A few hours later and I'm in the bathroom, I feel like someone is behind me, and I feel, rather than see a shadow move behind me. So now I'm really freaked out and I cast a protection spell that very evening.

DevonshireCreamTea · 14/10/2018 21:16

Ohhhh I love a good woo thread.

I have a mini one that happend yesterday. I'm sure it's just a coincidence but still.
DS 5 months has his afternoon nap in his pram which I keep in the utility room. He has his nap there everyday as it's a nice quiet part of the house. I have had some heavy wardrobe doors in there next to the boiler for about 2 months, had forgot all about them. So yesterday I got him ready for his nap and for some reason something was telling me to keep him in the kitchen so I can keep an eye on him.
Half an hour into his nap I heard a huge THUD as the doors fell straight into where DS pram usually is. I dread to think what would have happened if i had not had a weird feeling something would happen !

MalcolmsBrokenWalrusMoneybox · 14/10/2018 22:30

Questionable, what a horrific experience you had. Have you ever sought an explanation from - I don't know! - a psychic? Spiritual leader?

Froglette16 · 14/10/2018 22:50

My DD4 woke early one morning last year. I checked my DS1 (ages at the time) he was fast asleep. I couldn’t get back to sleep so looked things up on my tablet in DD’s room (she’s sleeping again). Then I hear DS- chattering away and a different child’s voice saying “will you just stop laughing at me!”. There was no other child in the house at the time. Some months later the kids’ uncle stayed the night in DS’s room. Heard the same voice. Freaky.

SoleBizzz · 14/10/2018 22:55

Well get this strange experience

I was in the shop Hobbycraft last week. My dress at the back was tugged diwnwaeds twice rather hard. I immediately felt the back of my dress with my hand and looked around me. There was nobody there and definitely nobody had walked past me. I told the Manager issuing my refund what had happened and she said yes that's our ghost. He/she makes items fly off shelving. I laughed and told her I didn't believe in woo stuff really and the other sales assistants seemed quite serious and confirmed there is a ghost!

In Hobbycraft!!

Who'd have thought it and why Me?

WingsofNylon · 14/10/2018 23:05

Mine isn't amazing but I'll add it all the same. Three times now I've been in the bathroom and heard the toilet flush. No water runs through but the noise happens. Flush and refill. Clear as day. There's no attached wall so can't be the ndn. No one was in the house with me. First time I thought I was hallucinating as I was poorly.

QuestionableMouse · 14/10/2018 23:46

No, and I'm not sure I ever will or even want to... I think some things are better left alone.

Not particularly scary, but growing up I could always hear people talking upstairs in my parent's house. But not like a single voice, layers and layers of them some of which I could hear louder. I remember it distinctly from my earliest memories until I was about 7 or 8.

On a few occasions, I asked my Mum why there were people talking in the house that we couldn't see and she even took me to the doctors to ask about tinnitus!

As I got older I remember having to search harder for it, and the voices seeming further away.

I'm not a woo person and don't believe in ghosts or anything. It was probably just childhood imagination, but strange all the same.

SecretWitch · 15/10/2018 01:59

Our house is a Victorian and has its share of creaks. Weirdly, we can sometimes hear what I can only define as dance music from the thirties and forties. It seems to happen more frequently in the winter. I think it is concentrated in the downstairs, my children think it comes from upstairs and my husband never hears it all..

QuestionableMouse · 15/10/2018 20:05

Ooh those are quite creepy.

AnarchyKitty · 15/10/2018 20:18

SecretWitch
We also live in a very old house and also hear muted 30/40s music and dinner party noises. I find it very comforting.

bobstersmum · 15/10/2018 20:24

I love a bit of woo!
Op, that's some scary shit!

IggyAce · 15/10/2018 20:33

Love woo threads.

QuestionableMouse · 15/10/2018 21:24

My house is over 100 years old and we get cooking smells. Sometimes it's frying onions, sometimes bread. It's nice.

A couple of years ago we stayed in a cottage in the Yorkshire Dales. It was very remote in a beautiful part of the country.

As soon as I walked in, it felt freezing cold and the hairs went up on the back of my neck. My DH and DD didn’t feel anything.

We got the heating on, thinking that was why it was cold.

We went upstairs and I had the feeling someone was there. I didn’t feel comfortable letting DD sleep on her own (she was 6 at the time) so she slept in the double bed with me and DH went in the twin room at the end of the corridor.

That night, I was upstairs putting DD to bed when I heard a huge bang and my DH cry out downstairs. I went down and he said the back door had flung open with the same force as if someone had kicked it open! We went outside and there wasn’t a breath of wind and all was still. From then on, we kept the back door locked.

That night I went up to bed and felt a horrible uneasy feeling. I got in bed with DD and finally went to sleep. A couple of hours later, I was awoken to a huge bang on the bedroom window like someone was hammering on it! DD is a heavy sleeper and stayed asleep. After that I turned the landing light on and left the door open so it was very light in the room.

The next morning, I told DH and he said it was probably a tree branch banging on the window. So we went outside but there were no trees nearby.

The next evening DD was in bed and DH and I were in the lounge and we both heard “Help me” screamed outside. We went out and looked around but couldn’t see or hear anything. So we assumed it was someone messing about.

The next day we went out and about half a mile from the cottage (a quiet single track road) there was HELP ME! written in red paint on the road!

We were totally freaked out thinking we’d stumbled into Wicker Man territory and I wanted to go home. But we were only on day 3 of a 7 day holiday. We would’ve booked into a hotel but couldn’t find one at short notice that would take dogs (our dog was with us) so we talked ourselves into staying.

From then on, I kept getting a horrible feeling we were being watched. The hairs would go up on the back of my neck and I felt very uneasy. I stuck it out one more day then told DH I couldn’t take it any more and that I wanted to go home. I thought he would moan but he looked so relieved and we’ve never packed up and left a place quicker than we left there!

I was always a non believer about these things and thought it was people’s imagination but I felt something in that house that I’ve never experienced before or since.

oksanas · 15/10/2018 22:19

@TeaByTheSeaside Shit the bed Shock

SecretWitch · 15/10/2018 22:19

AnarchyKitty I find it comforting too. Our house has a nice feeling to it. I like thinking all the people who have lived in it over the past 130 years have loved it also.

SecretWitch · 15/10/2018 22:22

TeaByTheSeaside I wouldn’t have bothered packing..just flung dh and dd in car and off to home we go!

patsywine · 16/10/2018 21:57

Why oh why do I read these threads before bed! Love these creepy stories though. Any more?

bobstersmum · 17/10/2018 09:06

Bumping for more!

AlpacaPicnic · 17/10/2018 12:17

I've told this before and it's a bit lame - but in the spirit of the season...

I was in the shop where DH works, leaning on the counter chatting to him and a colleague (it's a very casual shop!) When I felt someone smack my bum hard. I shot bolt upright and whirled round to give the smacker a piece of my mind but nobody was behind me, or near enough to have been the culprit. I turned back to DH and demanded he tell me who had done that and he told me that nobody had been near me, and he was as confused as I was. He wouldn't find it funny if someone had done that to me so I completely believe him. But I almost wish he'd lied to me because I felt a bit creeped out afterwards!

FilledSoda · 17/10/2018 12:19

Good call Questionablemouse, I've the house to myself this evening and a bottle of wine in Grin
