How many products do you put in with a wash?

PatPhelansRedVan · 14/10/2018 14:59

On a Facebook group someone asked if her 5 products she put a photo of was too much. Now others are saying they also put 5 or more different products in the machine.

Am I missing something,? Does EVERYONE do this? I just do a laundry capsule. Unless it's maybe heavily stained/special type of wash etc.

I put in one Almat washing powder tablet & that's it. I can't even think of five things you could put in with a wash Confused

JosellaPlayton · 14/10/2018 15:03

We use:
Laundry Detergent
Fabric Softner
Laundry Bleach (whites only)
Stain Remover (if needed, usually DD’s clothes)
Color Catcher (if mixing light/bright/dark colours)
Dryer Sheet (once transferred to the dryer)

Whites get powder, white vinegar in lieu of softener, antibacterial liquid (washing nappies) and oxy white. Colours just get powder, vinegar and colour sheet, darks get liquid and vinegar.

I thought that was normal?

BakedBeans47 · 14/10/2018 15:05

Laundry capsule. I saw someone on the Mrs Hinch fb group post that she used detergent, fabric softener, Lenor unstoppables and Zoflora. What a clash of smells that must be

ThePrincipal · 14/10/2018 15:06

I just do a laundry capsule.

I’m allergic to softener, and try to minimise the amount of chemicals I use.

MarklahMarklah · 14/10/2018 15:06

Just washing powder unless something has stains, in which case I will pre-treat.

Namechanger55555 · 14/10/2018 15:06

I use laundry detergent and fabric softener as standard. If a washing a nappy explosion baby grow, I put dettox liquid in.

BakedBeans47 · 14/10/2018 15:06

Why would you put vinegar in with washing?

I hate fabric softener

PatPhelansRedVan · 14/10/2018 15:07

I'll find out examples of the 5/6 things...

Liquid tab
Softner
Whitening powder or colour bright stuff depending on colour
Unstoppables...seems to be some sort of smell booster
Astonish oxy active stain remover
Colour catcher sheet

Washing powder and fabric softener.

I used to use Calgon type tablets too as we live in hard water area but then a washing machine engineer pointed out to me that they only worked for the one lot of water each wash that they dissolved in IYSWIM (ie. once they dissolved and went through the machine and out the drain then they were followed by numerous other rinses of hard water without any of the Calgon in)

BakedBeans47 · 14/10/2018 15:09

Some people really are a marketing person’s dream. I wonder what they think might happen if they don’t use all that shit?

formerbabe · 14/10/2018 15:11

This is nuts

Etino · 14/10/2018 15:11

Laundry capsule, colour catcher and a micro fibre cloth. I read somewhere is picks up fluff or summat and I always have one that need washing, so easy.

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/10/2018 15:12

1, something to clean clothes.
Mrs Hinch is ridiculous.
She's just the new DIYOAB, Slow cooker people who are hard of learning and just want to be part of something.
The same people are in those Charlie's Army, Find Corrie type groups.
I find it all a bit sad, like genuinely sad.
A friend of mine is on there in a horrified way and sent me a link where someone had broken her tap so she could stamp her loo roll.

The Hinch woman acts like she's one of the whilst failing to disclose how much money she's making from them.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 14/10/2018 15:14

Powder & softner here. I will pre-treat with stain remover if needed but it's rare I have anything that needs it (I use the vanish soap bar thingy). Oh & I stick a scoop of nappisan in with the dcs white school shirts.

SpoonBlender · 14/10/2018 15:16

I though the entire point of microfibre cloths is that they don't leave fibre residue? If you're using them as a fluff trap that kinda goes out the window!

On a normal wash we use washing liquid in a cap. That's all.

We've got an oxy spray thing for prepping stubborn stains which gets used occasionally.

There's also always a litre of white vinegar which we'll use with a boil wash when the towels start drying stinky to clean the machine. Then do the last wash again, ew.

theboxofdelights · 14/10/2018 15:16

Fairy liquid here, thats it.

I do a hot wash with soda crystals when I remember, twice a month perhaps.

elQuintoConyo · 14/10/2018 15:17

Washing Liquid. Marsella soap flavour, from Carrefour.

That's it.

I may soak the odd item in that powder stuff that comes in a garish pink tub - Vanish or something? On stained child's clothes.

But fuck the rest of it, i'm not made of money.

Cauliflowersqueeze · 14/10/2018 15:18

Ariel powder.

I had a Lenor which I used and now it’s run out I can still smell it on my duvet cover about 5 months later. No idea how to get the smell out.

PatPhelansRedVan · 14/10/2018 15:20

Does fairy liquid in the washing machine not cause a bubble volcano? Or is that an urban student myth?

The poor environment - no wonder its being screwed up.

Haberpop · 14/10/2018 15:21

@BakedBeans47 Some people use vinegar in place of fabric softener.

Washing liquid and softener here.

kazwelch · 14/10/2018 15:21

I put the liquid, softener & liquid balls. All my husband uses is the washing powder.

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/10/2018 15:22

My cleaner, (yes, I have one, I have a disability), really hates her.
She says she just promoting products, only ever cleans things that are already clean and is making money from people who probably can't really afford it.
