Oh to be a lightweight

So I'm sat here, having been to my uncle in laws retirement do. I'm trying to appear quite sober when in reality, I'm not.

How much have I drunk, dear reader? A mere 2 glasses of wine and half a champagne. That is it!

When I played rugby (no more than 5 years ago) I was downing pints of cider by the dozen!

What has happened to me?! A baby has.

So, I ask you all, to share your lightweight stories, post-baby or not.

Did you go out and get hammered in style, hurling your guts up? Or did you slowly realise by daring to have a cheap cranberry and vodka in a can at home that your tolerance was nowhere near what it used to be?

phfffft.

I'll be opening a bottle in about a millisecond, and it won't touch the sides.

Jakethecob · 12/10/2018 19:03

I had one and a half flutes of champagne a couple of weeks ago and was hung over the whole of the next day. It's an age thing for me.

Threewheeler1 · 12/10/2018 19:04

My last big night out (5 years ago!) I had 3 glasses of wine.
I peed on my front lawn because I couldn't get my house keys out in time, lost a boot in the hedge and got stuck in my butt sucking pants having rolled them into a sausage trying to get them over my bum.
The next two days were spent being sick and crying about my headache. DH kept sending the kids in so they could get a good look at their Mum, like a zoo exhibit.
I realised that I can't drink anymore Grin

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 12/10/2018 19:05

i am fine with ots of champagne, prosecco, a nice heavy red, but white wine...strictly one glass and no more, otherwise it's hangover city!

VioletCharlotte · 12/10/2018 19:07

I'm a complete light weight nowadays. I used to be able to drink with the best of them when I was younger. Now? 2 glasses of wine and I feel shocking. I'm going out tonight, but driving as I just can't drink anymore.

I became allergic to alcohol somewhere in my thirties. Any amount of any type now gives me a nearly instant hangover, about fifteen minutes after I've drunk it. There is no amount of fun that I can have in fifteen minutes that's worth the after-effects.

Oh, I actually can have one glass of champagne, if I prepare by taking an aspirin an hour before. Yay.

PlinkPlink · 12/10/2018 19:20

Howls Aretha now @ElectricMonkey? 😂😂😂

Same here. Used to drink for Britain. 2 glasses wine is big night now. I think it’s the knowledge of near certain 5.30 wake up. Hang overs were fine when I could sleep til 11.

cheesefield · 12/10/2018 19:25

Oh, I remember the days at uni of drinking 8 snakebites, a few tequilas, puking in a car park and then being fine and perky the next day.

Now if I have more than 3 glasses of wine the next day is a groggy, carby write off. I'm only 34.

StrangeLookingParasite · 12/10/2018 19:25

Very rock n roll Strange

I so am. Grin

AwkwardSquad · 12/10/2018 19:27

Can’t drink at all anymore. It’s my age. I actually feel a buzz from alcohol-free beer, I’m that much of a lightweight now.

CalmConfident · 12/10/2018 19:29

It depends on the drink :)

merlotmummy14 · 12/10/2018 20:02

Last Friday night I had a pina colada and a small glass of merlot at dinner. I came home tipsy and passed out at 9pm. I'm 20. My one regret of having a baby young. I used to be able to outdrink all the guys by quite a few pints easy and then help carry other people back to uni residence. Now I can't walk straight if I have any more than 3 pints.

PlinkPlink · 12/10/2018 20:39

Awkward a buzz from alcohol-free beer. Blimey! That's some sensitive system you've got! 😂😂

In my rugby days, we had our annual awards dinner.

I distinctly remember having a box of wine between me and my mate whilst we got ready at her house. We took the glasses in the car with us as we were driven there how classy 😂 then had another bottle of wine before the meal even arrived. Third bottle whilst we were eating.
Then off into town for a pub crawl where multiple, multiple shots of every variety were consumed. Finishing in the local club where more drink was absorbed.

That was a messy night. Ended up in tears because I couldn't find the way out of the club. Consoled myself with a Subway.
Felt a bit fragile the next day but other than that m, I was a-okay.

Couldn't even dream of doing that now!

Lovestonap · 12/10/2018 20:59

Yep, now I get the hangover before I even go to bed. It's not FAIR!!!!

KeepServingTheDrinks · 13/10/2018 00:22

None of you are trying hard enough. You're just lacking in stamina!

bluetongue · 13/10/2018 03:06

I’m ridulously lightweight! The worst part is that not only do I get drunk easily, I only need to have a small amount of alcohol to vomit. It’s almost as though my body instantly wants to expel anything over a certain amount of alcohol.

Worst example of this was a work lunch on a very hot day. I got horribly smashed on Sangria, decided to walk home without a hat in the hottest part of the day and then projectile vomited once I got to the bathroom. Hand on my heart I haven’t had more than a couple of drinks at a time since that day.

EnidButton · 13/10/2018 04:17

1 drink and I'm hammered, no exaggeration.

When I was a teen, in the binging 90s, I tried to keep up with my, very much not lightweight, friends. That was...er...interesting. Eventually I realised I was always more drunk than anyone else hours before they were even tipsy.

I don't drink at all now. Alcohol doesn't like me and I don't like the taste anyway.

Inthetropics · 13/10/2018 08:18

A small glass of wine and a half get me absolutely hammered!

I almost never drink, so that might be it!
