Can this please be a pleasant thread? If you don't give a toss then please move on. I'm interested to see what sort of dress she wears. I'd love to see her in something that really reflects her character & I'm hoping for something with a bit of detail & not too plain.

There are some great photos of the bridesmaids and attendants on the DM website. Savannah is pretending to pay a trumpet, George looks shocked with his hand over his mouth and Maud has a finger up each nostril.

Coffeist · 12/10/2018 15:41

Loved the tiara and her make-up, and the fact she wasn't wearing a veil.
Didn't like the dress though, it's not ugly but seems very old-fashioned and bland... lovely the open back though for her surgery scars.

mouthkisses · 12/10/2018 15:42

I'm far from a royalist, but I love a wedding. I think it was lovely. Her dress was gorgeous. Her groom understatedly handsome. The touches were ordinary but classy. Nailed it.

@Coffeist I thought the dress was nice but better suited to an older bride. Eugenie's only about 27 but the fabric and design seemed a tad too mature for her. Maybe if the fabric hadn't been a brocade it would've looked more youthful.

AviatorShades · 12/10/2018 16:01

She looked really lovely and elegant in her unfussy dress. I didn't know she is so good looking, there again I'm not a Royal Watcher. And the children were equally lovely too. Glad that the heavy rain and high winds in my area were not in evidence there. T'was perfickSmile

Savannah is pretending to pay a trumpet

Savannah looks like a right little character. I think her, Charlotte and Mia will be a right handful at family dos

mydogisthebest · 12/10/2018 16:07

Courtney, "Meghan looked a state at her wedding"!!! You are entitled to your opinion but I thought Meghan looked stunning.

She is a very beautiful woman and I doubt she could look "a state" in anything she wears

Justanotheruser01 · 12/10/2018 16:12

To be honest i didnt watch for the princess especially but i love our little traditions im very proud of our country for stuff like this.

Courtney555 · 12/10/2018 16:19

@mydog

Agreed, she's a very beautiful woman. I like a lot of the other outfits she's worn. She's got the ability to look fab quite easily.

The wedding dress though? Didn't fit her, didn't flatter her, rode up and hovered stiffly above her shoulders. It reminded me of when you have a dress or suit made temporarily out of that cheap stiff fabric for measurements. Really bad.

Eugenie, given that she's not usually mentioned for knock out outifits, she just looked simply beautiful. One of my favourite royal wedding dresses ever.

Butterymuffin · 12/10/2018 16:19

Agree with the pp who said each bride had a dress that was fabulous for them. I loved the simplicity of Meghan's dress when I saw it, and today I loved Eugenie's on her.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/10/2018 16:23

The simplicity of Meghan's dress was the perfect foil for her veil, which was very intricately embroidered. Eugenie had no veil so could go more detailed with the design of the dress and the fabric used.

IdaBWells · 12/10/2018 16:44

I thought some of the colors that guests wore were beautiful, with the jewel tones and autumnal colors. There were also a lot of gorgeous prints and so nice to get away from florals. What I was more surprised about was the number of guests that didn’t take advantage of an autumn wedding to wear something more interesting, there were quite a number in pastels which just didn’t seem the way to go at all. One guest is featured in a lot of best dressed pictures in a pastel pink, the outfit is lovely but would’ve been so much better in the Spring, for this wedding it just seemed the wrong choice.

I was surprised by the Queen’s pale blue for that reason. The other royals all seem to have coordinated on colours with greens, navies and the fab deep pink that Kate wore. I was looking for a burnt orange but didn’t see any, although in the large photos of the chapel it looks like some of the guests did use orange. Anyway just loved lots of strong, vibrant colour and for some of the sartorially minded a missed opportunity.

The fit of Meghan's dress was certainly intentional and is a hallmark of classic Givenchy in the style of Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy: a body skimming comfortable fit. Meghan's dress was beautiful, very elegant, and as Queen said, perfect for the elaborate veil.

And Eugenie's dress was perfect for her, as well. And with the style of the dress and the tiara, the choice not to wear a veil was brilliant. (I'm particularly sympathetic, because I did not want to wear a veil at my wedding, but my mother insisted, and I gave in.)

Holly Vallance and tbf she is Australian where it's spring at the moment GrinWink

Bushellight · 12/10/2018 16:55

Not very interested but I have to say she looked so happy and it was refreshing to see (from what little I saw anyway) her getting excited in the run up.

mydogisthebest · 12/10/2018 17:00

I really liked Meghan's dress and I also really liked Eugenie's dress. They both looked stunning and the dresses were totally different but so right for both of them.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/10/2018 17:15

Yes @SenecaFalls, and that fit has become Meghan's signature look, along with the slightly oversized coats. But it appears to confuse lot of people as they constantly assume she's trying to hide a pregnancy!

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 12/10/2018 17:16

Waves from the S&B thread.

Loved the wedding, thought Eugenie looked stunning!! They both look so in love.

Poor Lady Louise. Really felt for her.

Fergie & Beatrice both looked fabulous.

SecretWitch · 12/10/2018 17:21

I loved how fresh, excited and in love Eugenie appeared. The tiara was gorgeous and made a veil unnecessary. I thought Kate, Meghan and Sarah all looked beautiful. I do wonder if they all will kick off their heels and dance barefoot on the floor, like I did 27 years ago today...

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/10/2018 17:22

It might've been mentioned upthread, but apparently Fergie's handbag was the one her mother carried at her (Fergie's) wedding. Must've been a bit sad for her in a way as her mother died so young in that freak accident.

IdaBWells · 12/10/2018 17:23

I just loved that Eugenie looked genuinely so happy and she and Jack seem a lovely and very strong couple. Congratulations to them both.

I was surprised we didn’t get much commentary on his family and their outfits. I think I may have seen his mum, is her name Nicola?

TomHardysNextWife · 12/10/2018 17:33

I thought Eugenie looked absolutely stunning. The dress fabric was exquisite and yay no lace! I can honestly say it's one of the nicest dresses I've seen in ages and perfect for the venue.

DH was cluelessly watching the news and said "she's very pretty" having no idea who she was Hmm. They both looked so happy.

YearOfYouRemember · 12/10/2018 17:37

It's just dawned on me no veil so her scars can be seen.

YearOfYouRemember · 12/10/2018 17:38

MObese the pattern was for the Queen and Sarah. Not sofa like at all imo.

CormoranStrike · 12/10/2018 17:46

She looks stunning, a beautiful woman radiant with happiness.

I love her dress and the deliberate bearing of her scars, a strong message there.
