Eugenie's Wedding Dress Thread - a small thread for the tiny minority of us who are interested.

Can this please be a pleasant thread? If you don't give a toss then please move on. I'm interested to see what sort of dress she wears. I'd love to see her in something that really reflects her character & I'm hoping for something with a bit of detail & not too plain.

Beatrice looked beautiful, too, but I hope her very simple choice of dress and headwear was because it was what she wanted to wear, rather than being afraid to be criticised for wearing something a little more special.

It was to do with her being Matron of Honour. It was the same colour as Louise Windsors and the page boys velvet trousers.

Dancergirl · 12/10/2018 15:05

Thought the bridesmaids and pageboys behaved impeccably. Why don't you ever see a royal child having a tantrum??

VanCleefArpels · 12/10/2018 15:05

lakalyra thank you , so it meant something to them, fair enough. I just thought that there was no cohesive colour scheme going on, Beatrice and Louise in royal blue, men all with blue waistcoats, blue thistles in the bouquet but then emeralds in the tiara, Fergie in green, autumnal colours in external florals and on cake. Looks a bit disjointed to me.

@Dancergirl Charlotte did in Canada last year, but has always behaved impeccably at weddings. I remember William and Zara mucking about at Andrew's wedding though!

SenecaFalls · 12/10/2018 15:06

Eugenie looked wonderful. Stunning dress and perfect for her, as Kate's and Meghan's were for them.

I loved her choice not to have a veil.

artemisdubois · 12/10/2018 15:09

I know she was Maid of Honour (I don't think she's married), but my point is that I didn't think it was a very MoH/bridesmaid-type outfit at all. As I said, I thought she looked beautiful.

Dancergirl · 12/10/2018 15:09

Oh yes queen I vaguely remember that.

But seriously, a 3 year old bridesmaid without a hint of crying/moaning/needing the toilet/throwing her posy etc?? How do they do it??

MissLingoss · 12/10/2018 15:13

I loved her choice not to have a veil.

Given how windy it was, I think a veil would have been a nuisance. And it would have defeated the object of having the low neckline to show off her scar. It was nice to be able to see the tiara properly, too, against her hair, rather than lost among yards of tulle.

It's because they whisk them away for the service.

Down the aisle, then hidden from sight and then back out again. They could be throwing the mother of all tantrums in the back room and we'd never know.

Courtney555 · 12/10/2018 15:14

@jacques because Kate is Kate. Elizabeth is Queenie. William is Wills. Meghan is Markle. Harry is Harry. Pippa is P-Middy....

In our house Grin

And Markle looked a state on her wedding day. It's not unpleasant, it's my opinion.

Tbf their nanny was also with them. It was her that was giving out the bouquets and who was looking after them during the service.

lalalalyra · 12/10/2018 15:14

I can't help but think Beatrice was MOH because the press expected her to be. In reality she was the bride's sister who did a reading. No real wedding party role as such.

MsSquiz · 12/10/2018 15:17

I think Beatrice had a very important role and that was to be with her mum. In that situation I would definitely want my sister to support my mum rather than just walk down the aisle behind me...

JacquesHammer · 12/10/2018 15:18

In our house

Gosh. Sounds quite the riot.

Nephrite · 12/10/2018 15:19

Think George had a tantrum at Pippa Middleton's wedding

CoffeeCoffeeTea · 12/10/2018 15:20

It was a beautiful wedding. The service and hymns were very moving.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/10/2018 15:25

Here's in Germany. She does that dropping like a stone to the floor thing that all parents know, but Kate's a pro and picks her up immediately!

Courtney555 · 12/10/2018 15:25

What a strange person you are. Good luck hun.

MissLingoss · 12/10/2018 15:28

I saw some photos online of Charlotte at a recent wedding where she seemed to be having a bad day - grumpy and clinging onto her mum. Can't remember which wedding it was.

But I do get the impression that Charlotte already has a strong sense of her own identity - I mean as an individual, not as a princess - and her own ideas about how to behave. She might turn out to be the Anne of her generation!

YesIDidNameChangeForThis · 12/10/2018 15:30

I thought the dress was stunningly lovely, and beautifully fitted. She far exceeded Megan for me.

Thesearmsofmine · 12/10/2018 15:31

Laughing to myself at that video of Charlotte. My toddler does the stampy legs followed by dropping to the floor trick.

Dancergirl · 12/10/2018 15:32

Wow, Kate was so calm and collected. I get really self-conscious disciplining my own children in public, must be difficult with the whole world watching you!

kenandbarbie · 12/10/2018 15:32

Charlotte and Louis must be SICK of being flower girls / page boys.

Dancergirl · 12/10/2018 15:33

Love Charlotte's dress in that video - I used to dress my dds in traditional dresses when they were little - they cringe now! Grin

SillySallySingsSongs · 12/10/2018 15:35

Nice touch that Sarah was using the clutch her mother had for her wedding to Andrew.
