Mine was online on a stop sign.

Underneath: STOP

Someone had graffitied “Collaborate and Listen”

The mooncup one upthread reminded me - in the loo at the British Library of all places. There was an advert for mooncups on the back of the door, to which someone had added "I thought Mooncup did birthday cards".

And the classic "Also available in white" written on a dirty white car always makes me snort.

We used to live near a dark and dingy underpass (underneath a wide motorway). For some reason it permanently had a horizontal line by the entrance with "you must be at least this tall to enter" by it.

Otherwise it was a canvas for the depressingly dull expressions of who's gay and who's a slag etc.

In a toilet cubicle at my old uni: 'Play toilet tennis! See opposite for rules.' And then on the other side of the cubicle: 'Play toilet tennis! See opposite for rules.'

UrbaneSprawl · 12/10/2018 09:22

The toilet roll dispensers in the university library had the neatly written message “University of Sussex Arts Degrees - please pull below”

spiderlight · 12/10/2018 09:29

Just remembered another, which is kind of bad but makes me smile every time I pass it. There's a church in a small modern building near us which recently had a makeover, including a big 3D sign on the side saying 'BETHEL CHURCH'. Within about three days, the B and the whole of 'CHURCH' had been very neatly removed, so it now simply says 'ETHEL' Grin

Not quite graffiti, but this makes me laugh every time:

In the toilets of my favourite pub in my hometown.
"Clap if you're having a poo"
and underneath in different handwriting
"Poo if you've got the clap".

We currently have a busy local road completely closed off for major gas pipe renovation work, with all the traffic diverted in a large loop around three quiet residential roads.

Above the large DIVERSION sign, somebody has added JOY.

Sidge · 12/10/2018 11:58

See I love clever, witty graffiti and well composed signs.

I can spend ages giggling at notes on fridges, doors etc as per strawberryisc above.

BiscuitsAndGravy · 12/10/2018 12:09

I saw "Brexit Ruins Lives" on a bridge yesterday, then the next bridge said "Welcome to the Shit Show". Not sure if it was done by the same person.

VelociraptorRex · 12/10/2018 12:19

I saw one on a motorway bridge a while ago that just said "PIES". Nothing else. Makes me giggle for no apparent reason every time I see it!

flummoxedlummox · 12/10/2018 12:20

Two local ones to me made me smile. Cuckoo Lane had the e altered to a d so the residents were living in Cuckoo Land.

The other more recent one was where someone had scrawled "Be Happy" with a smiley face and someone had added below in different writing "Be Realistic" with a sad face.

user1471553214 · 12/10/2018 12:25

Someone had graffitied ‘life is pain’ and someone else had added ‘au chocolat’

FadedRed · 12/10/2018 12:38

Back in the days when people nipped into the staff lavatories for a crafty cigarette, there was a sign by Housekeeping Dept above the washbasins saying “Do NOT put cigarette ends down the plug holes.” Underneath this was invariably a handwritten “Because it makes them soggy and difficult to relight’.

Knittedfairies · 12/10/2018 12:43

There’s a fish and chip shop in a nearby town called ‘300 Spartans’ with a painted sign on the wall which I thought read ‘Parking for 300 Spartans’. This made me chuckle in itself - 300 near-naked men (if you believe the film) fighting it out for 2 or 3 car spaces. But on closer inspection the sign actually reads ‘Parkin for 300 Spartans’ so presumably the owner is giving out free cake.

strawberrisc · 12/10/2018 12:58

@VelociraptorRex I’ve seen that one with my own eyes! It’s in the Norgh isn’t it?

WeeDangerousSpike · 12/10/2018 13:00

Fadingmemory

‘I love grils’ altered to ‘I love girls’. Underneath, someone wrote, ‘What about us grils?’

Seaside town beginning with B about 25 years ago?

Same town, much more recently: a stop sign with eyes drawn to make it look like a ninja Grin

Tinklewinkle · 12/10/2018 13:07

It’s supposed to be Apse Heath

We also used to go under a motorway bridge a lot with ‘give peas a chance’

@strawberrisc it is indeed, I think it's on the M6!

VictoriaBun · 12/10/2018 14:09

We have a sign in the village which asks ' Please drive carefully ' It now says. ' Please die fully'

VelociraptorRex · 12/10/2018 14:14

The M6 has a bridge with vote pies. Also opposite the one of the car park entrances at the nearest hospital has there's no place like ohm and meditate to accumulate. Always make me smile.
