GrandmaSharksDentures · 10/10/2018 17:13

I've NC for this (and do regularly), not too sure why though!
DH has been diagnosed with a brain tumour today. Seeing the neuro-oncology team tomorrow who will tell us the plan.
Shit
He's young (ish) 46, I've just started back at university. Our son is only 6
I just feel numb, don't know what else to say, sorry

I'm so sorry. You must be absolutely in shock.

Is that all the information you have at the moment until tomorrow?

UAEMum · 10/10/2018 17:18

Hand hold
I hope that things go as well as they possibly could tomorrow.

HexeSauerkraut · 10/10/2018 17:19

Holding your hand. I wish you all the best and best possible luck.

Rachie1986 · 10/10/2018 17:21

Hand holding. Hope you get some clear answers and a plan tomorrow

beeefcake · 10/10/2018 17:23

OP I'm so sorry. Not much advice to give but here for a handhold. Do you know how long he has had it? Thanks

SnuggyBuggy · 10/10/2018 17:26

I'm sorry to hear this OP

GrandmaSharksDentures · 10/10/2018 17:28

Thank you. He's still in hospital, I don't think he really needs to be there but while he's there everything is getting done really quickly which is a benefit.
We're lucky that our local hospital (5 mins walk) has both a neurosurgical & oncology unit.
He's self employed & so not earning while he's not working. While that's not my main concern right now, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't playing on my mind

Handhold form here. We are dealing with DH lung cancer here, early 30's, non smoker. Just remember it's ok not to be ok and tomorrow is always a different day Thanks

GrandmaSharksDentures · 10/10/2018 17:38

Headache started on Saturday, bit drowsy on Sunday, nauseous Monday. So only had symptoms for 3 days, so so quick

Magik1 · 10/10/2018 17:46

Oh no! A handhold for you.
That’s so quick, I’m so sorry OP. We’re here to listen. Do you have anyone in RL to speak to as well?

notapizzaeater · 10/10/2018 17:48

Good that they are working quickly, once they/you know more you an decide on next steps.

HexeSauerkraut · 10/10/2018 17:51

Really great that they diagnosed it so quickly. Sending strength Flowers

StarShapedWindow · 10/10/2018 17:51

Try not to panic (very hard I know). The words Brain Tumour sound so scary but there are lots of medications to shrink tumors and they can often be removed. Do you have support in RL?

HexeSauerkraut · 10/10/2018 17:59

I went through this three years ago with my DH - I won’t go into detail as this is not about me, but I really hope you have plenty of support around you and like a PP said - it’s OK to not be OK.

oatmilk4breakfast · 10/10/2018 18:02

So sorry to hear that. Hand holding...💐

beeefcake · 10/10/2018 18:05

It's only sensible to think about finances OP. If you have a mortgage it's worth getting in touch with the lender as soon as possible and explaining the situation. Macmillan have great advice on their website about this.

mommybear1 · 10/10/2018 18:07

Handhold Thanks

madasamarchhare · 10/10/2018 18:12

Thinking of you and your DH. The fact it’s been diagnosed so quick should be a good thing. As you say at least while he’s in hospital he is getting the tests and hopefully then the treatment he needs v quickly. Handy that the hospital is so near, that makes it a bit easier for appointments etc when you are already going through a stressful time. Hope you both get the best news you can tomorrow.

8DaysAWeek · 10/10/2018 18:18

I've been through this with my mum when she was 49. Similar time frame too from start of symptoms to diagnosis. Giving you a much needed hand hold. Everything will be up in the air at the moment in terms of what happens next until you get more details. You'll be in a state of shock too, so whatever emotion or worry you have is valid and normal. Take care tonight.

GrandmaSharksDentures · 10/10/2018 18:46

Thank you everyone. I've just heard he's coming home tonight which is lovely news!

FunSponges · 10/10/2018 20:37

Hopefully as they have caught it quickly will mean good options for treatment.

Did this start with what you thought was a migrant?

myusernameisnotmyusername · 10/10/2018 20:41

I'm so sorry to hear this. Hope all is okay x

mowglik · 10/10/2018 20:45

So sorry OP, hope you have some better news soon

8DaysAWeek · 10/10/2018 20:49

He'll be glad to get into his own bed! Hope you can both manage a sleep tonight
