I am very amused!

Me too. Wonder if the buyer sees it that way!

TeaStory · 06/10/2018 09:51

That’s hilarious!

redwineandcrisps · 06/10/2018 09:51

I like this... Grin

KatyaZamolodchikova · 06/10/2018 09:53

I love that! It’s brilliant!

ForalltheSaints · 06/10/2018 09:53

Robin always seemed to have a sense of humour.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 06/10/2018 09:56

Robin?
I think it will be worth more now! But if I was the buyer I think I would have cried!

Whisky2014 · 06/10/2018 09:56

Well might be worth even more now! Haha

AviatorShades · 06/10/2018 10:03

GrinGrin, and yes, might well be worth more now..what a hoot!

"Robin" ? Is his identity known now? Missed that.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 06/10/2018 10:03

Do we know who he is yet? He would have been in that room and nobody knew! I want him to do his work on my wall!

Banksy is supposed to be Robin Gunningham ...

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 06/10/2018 10:11

I have just had a quick read. His style js very familiar!

woodenfences · 06/10/2018 10:13

I don’t understand?

shockedballoon · 06/10/2018 10:14

It'll be worth even more now. Was thinking that turning it into confetti with a diamond style shredder would've been a better option. Though likely the confetti would still be worth extra £££ - capitalism & money always wins. Though may be that was his point!

dangermouseisace · 06/10/2018 10:14

He is a true artist!! Brilliant!

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 06/10/2018 10:16

@woodenfences, the girl with red balloon went up for auction, as soon as it was sold the painting destructed ny going through a remote controlled shredder...or some sort of times shredder. It seems Banksy has been a little mischievous.

I went to Dismaland ( twice - I got lucky ) I saw a bloke who looked very much like the photos of Robin pictured with a stencil, he was flanked with 4 or 5 people mooching about ...

PierreBezukov · 06/10/2018 10:17

I'd be very annoyed if I was the buyer. In fact I just wouldn't pay for it.

ShatnersBassoon · 06/10/2018 10:17

Robin always seemed to have a sense of humour.

Ooh, first name terms. You must be very close to the artist, and just dropping a little teaser like that to pique our interest. Pray, do tell us all you know about Robin...

Omgineedanamechange · 06/10/2018 10:18

Genius, absolute genius. And it stopped halfway so could still be hung a wall. It’ll be up there with the Mona Lisa fame wise in years to come.

woodenfences · 06/10/2018 10:18

I just don’t get why it’s amusing.

Is it supposed to be a “stick it to the man” moment?

KlutzyDraconequus · 06/10/2018 10:22

I find it a bit tough to believe the auction house didn't spot a hidden mechanism. One that would need motors, remote receivers and electricity to work. There would be a weight to that when being hung.

ImNotonLinkedInNo · 06/10/2018 10:24

I just read this. I feel that a buyer must have expected some reaction. Maybe NOT THIS but ....! wow.

ImNotonLinkedInNo · 06/10/2018 10:25

Oh? It only half shredded? Well then that's spectacular. The buyer should be very happy!

Womaningreen · 06/10/2018 10:28

um....not sure about this legally, though I'm sure Banksy would have found out first....

Glitteryfrog · 06/10/2018 10:32

To be honest if I was spending £1m on a banksy I'd expect something to happen. Like the display in the auction house 'is not to scale' and you get a stamp sized painting at the end.
