Just making a playlist for my 40th and although I have a pretty good selection already I need more songs for the end of the night. Lots of drunken people standing in a big circle dancing and singing together type songs Grin.

I'd have to have some serious drugs to dance to faithless at a 40th party

Nutbush

Mambo No. 5 - Lou Bega

Sparklingbrook · 03/10/2018 11:50

Ooh be careful with some of these! There was a thread last week of songs people hate. There are a lot of them on here. I will try and find the thread.

For me anything 80s really.

MissLingoss · 03/10/2018 11:52

Continuing the shouting and stomping theme -
Quo, Rocking all over the World (it was good enough to open Live Aid...)
Tom Robinson, 2468 Motorway
Crocodile Rock was always a good one, too.

But I think what's considered good dance music is very much a generational thing. I couldn't get up on the dance floor to most modern stuff.

With Boh Rhap, doesn't everyone just perform the video?Smile

heymammy · 03/10/2018 11:55

The Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way

I was at a multi-generational family wedding in Scotland a couple of weeks ago. The 2 tracks that I noticed the floor filling up were

Happy Radio by Edwin Starr.
Blue Monday " New Order.

2nd/3rd/4th-ing Dancing Queen and Don't Stop Me Now.

Bohemian Rhapsody if you want everyone to have a singalong and a headbang a la Wayne's World.

And of course, It's Raining Men for the ladies Grin

MaHeidsGouping · 03/10/2018 13:08

If you are in Scotland then I'd say George Bowie's GBX Grin, that always fills the dance floor.

CountessVonBoobs · 03/10/2018 13:12

Are some of these not a bit, ah, gone-off cheese for a 40yo? There was damn good music in the charts to dance to 15-20 years ago.

The Jackson Five ticks the unstoppable retro beat box without being too awful.
No-one can resist "Crazy in Love".

SheSparkles · 03/10/2018 13:13

Another vote for Proud Mary....along with most of the above.

At a froend’s recent wedding, they asked for your favourite song with the RSVP-the music at the reception was cracking and the dance floor was never empty

Kbear · 03/10/2018 13:18
EleanorLavish · 03/10/2018 13:18

LizzieMacQueen · 03/10/2018 13:19

Dancing Queen would have been a good bet but have you seen the news? Theresa May came onto the podium with it playing. Ruined it.

Sparklingbrook · 03/10/2018 13:51

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3379950-does-anyone-else-hate-this-song?pg=1
