Need to get from Bristol airport to Musgrove Park Hospital...help

Flying down to say goodbye to my mother tomorrow with an autistic toddler & luggage. Any posters know the easiest way to get from Bristol airport to Musgrove Park Hospital?

Or are you looking for public transport? That will be difficult.

As you probably as aware the airport isn’t in the city. So will be easier for you to get to Taunton.

You can get the A1 bus to Bristol bus station then the National Express to Taunton.

I would do taxi to Bristol Temple Meads, train to Taunton, taxi to hospital.

A1 also goes to temple meads I think, so you could get a train to Taunton from there.

How much luggage do you have?

I'd agree with previous posters - Bristol Airport is a long way outside the city and public transport links are bus only; public transport would be bus from airport to Bristol Temple Meads, train from there to Taunton, then taxi or bus. If you are able to hire a car and drive that is the most direct route, or taxi.

There are some journeys listed from Bristol Airport to Taunton direct via the megabus site, taking about an hour, but I don't know if any of the times would suit you and you'd still need to get a taxi to the hospital.

To take the train it seems complicated to go north to Bristol to then go south again.

Can you hire a car. It won’t takw that long to drive it.

I don't drive so will be public transport unfortunately. Going to try to keep luggage to a minimum but at least one case as I've no idea how long we'll need to stay. I was hoping google had missed something but it seems taxi-train-taxi will be the only feasible option for us.

I’d take the A38 from the airport all the way to Taunton. 90mins max. All straightforward A roads.

Yeah the frequent airport bus (every ten minutes at peak times) will get you to either Temple Meads or the bus station, so no real need for a taxi. Then train or bus to Taunton. Then taxi? Not sure that bit. Might be a hospital bus but my computer's slow, I've not found it.

Can you get a taxi to the nearest train station, maybe Weston and then taxi from Taunton station to musgrove. It’s a short hop once you are at the station.

Taxi from station to hospital will be short. 10mins max.

The bus will be just as easy as a taxi. The stop is right outside the terminal door. If getting a taxi prebook a minicab from a local company as the airport taxis are rubbish. Frequently very long waits and expensive.

Is Weston closer to the airport than Bristol itself then? Looks like there's direct trains from there to Taunton

It drops off just by junction 25. Taxi from there to Musgrove 10 mins or less

What time of day will you be landing? That’ll probably make a difference to what public transport will be available

I'd go taxi to temple meads, train to Taunton then taxi to musgrove, unless you know anyone local who could drive you? A38 Bristol-Taunton doesn't take long at all, 60-90 minutes depending on traffic/time of day.

Temple meads is far closer than Weston

I would agree with the Falcon bus suggestion. It will be easier than the train.

Go to Temple Meads rather than Weston. It’s easier to get to Temple Meads on the airport bus, and trains from temple Meads to Taunton are faster (if you get the right one) than Weston to Taunton. There’s no direct bus from Taunton station to the hospital so taxi is your best bet.
