I onlycame back from Tenerife on Saturday morning (was supposed to be Friday, but plane delayed).
We were in Los Cristianos and it was lovely. The tour to Teide was interesting (but boring for younger children, as when you get to the cable car station there is little there, unless you go up in it, and it's a lot of queueing). They have the cutest of lizards though!
Day trip to La Gomera was interesting, but like Teide most of the time was spent in a coach. The whistling at the restaurant was great (all coach trips to La Gomera seem to stop at the same restaurant), but the food was vile.
The national park at La Gomera we spent only 20 minutes and to be honest, from the short time there, it wasn't that different to woods in England. There is a stone circle there called the Circle of Witches, which I found interesting.
We spent too little time in time in La Gomera's capital San Sebastian, before our ferry back, so couldn't look around it, but that depends on tour operators (we went with Atlantico).
The best trip we did by far was the Ragnarok Viking Boat tour. We did it on Friday for the three hour tour (it finished two hours before our coach transfer to the airport. It was truly amazing, and fab for kids. The 'vikings' were incredible in keeping you entertained, you get food (nice) on the boat, get to make coins, sword fight, shoot arrows, see whales, and anchor up and jump off the boat into the sea and snorkel or swim (if you want). The boat is rocky, and DD who was fine on the ferry, was sick, but still enjoyed it tremendously (our apartments were great and let DD shower in a spare room despite having checked out, and luckily I took a t-shirt for me which did her as a dress on the boat).
We went to Aqualand twice. We went to Siam waterpark last year, but it was expensive and crowded (and you can't take your own food). Whereas Aqualand was quiet, so no queues for rides, and there is a Dialprix opposite the entrance which makes cheap baguettes you can take in.
The tours for the viking boat (and Peter Pan & Travelling Lady) can be arranged from Jesus Excursions, which has a little booth by the tunnel before Los Cristianos harbour. Day trips to La Gomera are best bought by a tour operator, as the ferry tickets are more expensive if you buy them direct, and you don't have transport on the island.
Food wise - Pizzeria Europa is amazing (and I don't usually like pizza), really cheap and gorgeous freshly made, unusual toppings. Promenade bar (past the harbour) is really, really good, and amazing Canarian Potatoes.
There is a market in Los Cristianos on Sundays and Tuesdays (finishes at 2pm). It is huge, hot and busy, interesting, but be savvy for inflated prices.
