Ds, 19, was out last night after training, and came home late.
I found this note today, and it gave me a chuckle.
It's a gloomy , rainy old day here, and I could use more laughs.
If you feel like it, what's the best note you've found?

Not my dc but dm likes to tell a story where she realised my dsis had gone quiet and she called out "what are you doing?" and got the response "Being a little bit naughty in the living room."

She had found a box of chocolates and was working through it.

Unfortunately the only note I've been left was not funny nor cute. Sad

NorthEndGal · 28/09/2018 13:06

I'm sorry to hear that Witchend
I should have thought of that sort of thing before postingFlowers

The going rate from the tooth fairy is £1 in our house. DD lost a tooth which was very tiny because she grinds them and we kidded her that she'd probably only get 10p for such a little tooth. We found a letter under her pillow that said 'deer toof fary, my mum and dad sed I wood only get 10p for my litl toof but I was reely hopping for 20p plees'. Grin

My teen DD can push boundaries and be quite moody at times Hmm The other week I found a note from her by the kettle, apologizing for being a cow sometimes and saying she loves me very much and really appreciates everything I do 💓

NorthEndGal · 28/09/2018 18:07

Its amazing how thoughtful they can be, when it suits

Ha ha absolutely..Its probably a precursor to a request of some sort!!! Your DS note was funny, something my nephew of same age would do after a few drinks! The tooth fairy note was sweet. Reminds of the time same DD, when young and innocent aged around 8, left a note for Father Christmas requesting a picture of him and his wife!!!

When we cleared out my mum's house after she died I found a few notes and pictures from me that she had kept. One was a picture of a house I had drawn and on the back a I had written...can I have a kiss and a cuddle please... We were really close and cuddled for hours in the big chair!

These are really cheery to see! It's easy to forget the sweet moments when there is so much else always going on.

I love my DCs notes and keep then all. If DS has been sent to his room, a trail of post it notes usually get chucked down. When he was younger (about 5) they started off quite angry, how he didn't like us etc. Then they would apologise for saying that, then they would apologise for what he had done wrong, often plead to come down. All in the space of the 5 minutes he'd been sent up for!

DD is more likely to write me notes about how she loves me and I'm the best mummy ever.

girlsyearapart · 29/09/2018 12:06

Left on her pillow when she got back from school trip. Found the reply when I went to bed on my pillow. Smile

Not a note, but I found the list DS made for Father Christmas when he was 3, shortly after DD was born:
Curly straws
A real fire engine
A brother

These are lovely 💕 I’ve left my mum loads of notes in the past, but the one I remember just makes me laugh.

Back when we were still teenagers, DH was staying at my house overnight when he had an asthma attack in the middle of the night. I wrote a note for mum to say that I was taking him to A&E and stuck it to the wall opposite her bedroom door. Literally couldn’t miss it.

Came home at 6am, mum was in the kitchen. Hadn’t seen the note, hadn’t noticed we were gone until we walked through the front door!

Needn’t have bothered with the note 😂

IStandWithPosie · 29/09/2018 12:29

I found a note from my DS when he was 7/8. For context he was a year old when his dad and I separated and his dad got with his wife almost immediately so DS has never known life without his stepmum, he has no memory of his dad and I together. The note said “to Mum and dad, I love yous and think you should live together. But only if [stepmum name] is ok with it and dad could go and see her at weekends.”

It was very cute but made me sad too as he obviously wants his parents together despite never having known that.

MaryBoBary · 29/09/2018 13:20

When I was younger my little sister and I used o argue about who got to sit in the front passenger seat. In the end we took it in turns each week. One night when she was about 4 and I must have been 7, I found a note on my pillow that said:

To Mary, I am sorree to say it is my week in the frunt.

I’ve still got it in a keepsake box Grin

NorthEndGal · 29/09/2018 15:06

These are all so sweet

My DD must have overheard me joking with my MIL last weekend. She came to pick her up from school with me as a surprise, when dd saw her she cried "nana" and ran to hug her. She does he same when DH picks her up (rarely).

I joked to MIL that I never get that kind of lovely response, more a jaded one!
So on Monday she came running out and gave me the biggest hug, and gave me a picture covered in hearts saying, 'I love you evry day. Your the best xxx'

FunSponges · 29/09/2018 21:05

I found one of DS's notes earlier in my wardrobe. It's a recent one where I had told them I wouldn't be taking them out for the day because of their behaviour (we did end up going) and at the bottom of the apologies and promises to be good was a poll. I forgot DS does that. He writes a note asking for something then I have to vote by circling the options he has written and give it back. Sometimes I vote then slide it under his door 😊.

Not from DC but when I went on my first brownie camp I got a postcard everyday from either my parents, nan and grandad or our neighbour. Detailing things my brother was doing with my rabbit, was I having a good time, weather was nice at home (I didn't realise at the time I was about 30 minute drive away from home) etc.

It wasn't until years later, when I was looking through them that I noticed none of them had stamps on, one of them was even addressed to the person writing it.

I asked mum and she said they'd written one for every day I was away so I wouldn't be as homesick (I think brownies suggested it). I still have them 30 years later and love them to bits.
