I left my diary too close to the defrosting squid...

...and it STINKS!

I've been wondering what the unpleasant smell hanging round my desk was since Tuesday. It's my diary. The cover has absorbed squid juices and it smells very strongly of seafood.

I would be lost without my diary. It has my whole life in it in pretty coloured pens (and DH's, and DD's, and DS'!). It has a page per week with the days on the left and a page for notes on the right, which has my meal plans and to do list. And now it smells of fish.

Just putting this here to mourn.

It's your little fishy friend

TheFifthKey · 26/09/2018 18:27

Put it in a tub with some bicarbonate of soda? That absorbs smells.

elQuintoConyo · 26/09/2018 18:29

Check for black ink - was s/he trying to tell you something?

"Don't eat me! I have a family!"

Could you remove the cover and depending on the size could you replace it with a folder or a school book cover?

TwitterQueen1 · 26/09/2018 18:36

We need a trigger warning / barf alert here in the title OP Grin Grin

I want to upchuck just reading your post. Please downchuck it in the bin.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/09/2018 18:36

No sympathy for the squid!

Ooh I wonder if I could replace the cover...

TwitterQueen1 · 26/09/2018 18:37

PS: I am sorry btw, and not unsympathetic. FFS THROW IT AWAY

IHeartKingThistle · 26/09/2018 18:38

Twitterqueen Grin

I can't chuck it, it would take fucking HOURS to transfer it all.

And, and, it's pink.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 26/09/2018 18:38

Hmm... I'm more interested in the diary... sounds good. Where did you get it from OP?

Reaa · 26/09/2018 18:39

Sprinkle bicarb on the front and hope for the best

placebobebo · 26/09/2018 18:41

Stick it in a ziplock bag with a lot of bicarbonate of soda and leave it overnight. That should sort it.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/09/2018 18:41

OK I'm off to try bicarb, will report back.

Milk it's from WH Smith's, it's pink and it says 'this is your year' on the front.

Should change it to 'this is your squid'.

TheSquatLobster · 26/09/2018 21:49

What did it cost, OP?

About sick squid? Grin

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 26/09/2018 21:59

I've haddock up to here with these seafood jokes.

TwitterQueen1 · 26/09/2018 22:19

Pollocks! Cod you transfer all the info into a new planner OP? I'd hake to think you'd lose it all.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/09/2018 22:39

Oh my Cod. MN is making light of my serious problem.

Wetdressinggownsleeve · 26/09/2018 22:56

Ignore the shellfish posters making jokes OP.

IHeartKingThistle · 27/09/2018 08:17

Sad update...

Diary sat in bicarb all night. Squid still hanging about.

Going to try Febreze.

TwitterQueen1 · 27/09/2018 08:37

Zoflora seems to be the magic stuff for MNers. I've never tried it myself though.....

IHeartKingThistle · 27/09/2018 19:22

Now my diary smells of squid and Febreze.

GirlCroosh · 27/09/2018 19:25

Think it's time to spend a few squid on a new one
