I left my diary too close to the defrosting squid...

...and it STINKS!

I've been wondering what the unpleasant smell hanging round my desk was since Tuesday. It's my diary. The cover has absorbed squid juices and it smells very strongly of seafood.

I would be lost without my diary. It has my whole life in it in pretty coloured pens (and DH's, and DD's, and DS'!). It has a page per week with the days on the left and a page for notes on the right, which has my meal plans and to do list. And now it smells of fish.

Just putting this here to mourn.

Try putting it in a plastic bag or container with rice?
The smell will fade, only a little while till new diary time (now if you get an academic one)

LARLARLAND · 27/09/2018 19:28

You should've have found a different plaice to put your diary.

IHeartKingThistle · 27/09/2018 19:30

And they're off again Grin

Sadly it is an academic diary but I am a month in!

Probably time to bit a new diary, they are only a few squid

2slicesoftoast · 27/09/2018 19:37

Sorry - but buy a new one. We got prawn juice on the carpet in the cupboard under the stairs (Long story!) and the cupboard was still prawn scented (yuck) 3 years later when we sold the house .

Havaina · 27/09/2018 20:39

If you get sick of the fishy pong, I can recommend a fab diary on Amazon, let minnow x

simonisnotme · 27/09/2018 21:28

we used to use squid when crabbing , took days to get the pong of hands (much scrubbing), steering wheel etc ewweeee

Shampooeeee · 27/09/2018 21:41

All the cool kids will be writing in squid ink next year.

Goldenbug · 27/09/2018 22:24

I just hate leaving diaries next to defrosting squid. 17 diaries ruined last year alone. So sad.

JasperCopeland · 28/09/2018 07:47

There's something fishy about this..

askjeeves · 28/09/2018 17:40

Stop carping on about it OP.

GummyGoddess · 28/09/2018 18:09

Line air it outside like washing? That always gets rid of smells for me.

SoupDragon · 28/09/2018 18:12

On the plus side, you’ll always be able to sniff it out if you lose it.

MalcolmsBrokenWalrusMoneybox · 28/09/2018 18:25

How do you make a squid laugh?

10 tickles

IloveJudgeJudy · 28/09/2018 18:30

@Havaina Ooh, what diary do you recommend, please? I've bought an Erin Conference planner from the US. I love it, but man, it's pricey!

Just plaice marking

IloveJudgeJudy · 28/09/2018 18:46

Erin Condren

I think you probably have yunwork with it.

Perhaps dab with lemon sole essential oil?

BasiliskStare · 28/09/2018 19:12

Had you left it out with the lobster instead of squid , given it is pink , at least you would have known it was cooked. I can only suggest if you keep said diary you write a memo to self on the meal planner pages "no more squid"

I hope it all works out well for you Grin

LonginesPrime · 28/09/2018 19:30

I reckon a decent academic one will set you back to the tuna ten squid at least..

whyispeppainthenightgarden · 28/09/2018 20:10
