I am to scared to post in AIBU, but this morning I got a note through the door from my neighbour it was addressed to my house number and it says that my cat (WITH THE RED COLLAR) has been in her garden and it has given her dogs fleas, she is wanting the cost of the flea treatment £92 for shampoo, tablets, spot on and vets consultaion and the injection.
would it be rude to post a note back saying its like eating a tin of beans and knowing what bean made you fart? (lighthearted)
her house is one of 4 that are at the side of my house.

crazy neighbour

Okkkkkay... tell her to jog on. Fleas can come from anywhere. She's trying her luck!

LIVIA999 · 24/09/2018 14:33

If you are treating your dog properly surely it wouldn't get fleas?

6demandingchildren · 24/09/2018 14:34

I have 4 cats and im amazed she has narrowed it down to that particular cat.

TheMerryWidow1 · 24/09/2018 14:36

ha I'd ignore it she is trying it on, how does she know where the fleas came from.

Wheresthel1ght · 24/09/2018 14:36

I would tell her to fuck off!

My dog picks up fleas frequently from the bloody foxes and hedgehogs that frequent our garden and the areas we walk in...

Your neighbour is batshit!

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 24/09/2018 14:37

Dear Neighbour,

Prove it.

Kind regards

6demandingchildren · 24/09/2018 14:39

maybe i should ask for the fleas back

Claw001 · 24/09/2018 14:39

Wtf!

TwitterQueen1 · 24/09/2018 14:40

Hmmm. I think you tell her your cat is just a decoy (and has been treated) and that the real culprit is feral and skulking somewhere in the neighbourhood. You have seen it but it only appears at night and she needs to keep a very careful watch for it..... maybe that will tire her out!

HoleyCoMoley · 24/09/2018 14:40

Tell her they are your fleas and she had no right taking them without your cats permission, stupid woman is just trying it on.

Catzpyjamas · 24/09/2018 14:41

Flea treatment for dog - £5-£9 each
Flea spray for house -approx £15
The ability to identify which animal brought fleas to a whole neighbourhood ...Priceless Grin

SillyMoomin · 24/09/2018 14:42

hahahahahahahahahhaa

(deep breath)

hahahahahahahahahaha

brilliant OP. I'd go with your original suggestion of farting beans...

Claw001 · 24/09/2018 14:42

Tell her once she provides the dna test, you will provide flea treatment. Along with an invitation to JK show.

Bluntness100 · 24/09/2018 14:44

I'd go round all angry saying " what do you mean your dog has fleas, my cat doesn't, and if she/he gets them I'm going to fucking sue uou"

Then give a tinkly little laugh like your nuts and wander off.

MauraIsles · 24/09/2018 14:44

Your NDN is being ridiculous and a CF, there’s no way they can prove your cat transferred the fleas, I’d ignore, they are not wanting to pay out and are trying to blame you in the hope you pay the bill!

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 24/09/2018 14:45

Dear neighbour, I have had stern words with dcat and told him he isn't to share anymore.
Please return the fleas to their rightful owner and we shall say no more about it.

Hidingtonothing · 24/09/2018 14:45

I would just post a note back, ‘Dear crazy neighbour, my cat doesn’t have fleas, far more likely your dog has picked them up from wildlife in your garden. Now please jog on with your CFery, lots of love, 6 xxx’ Grin

6demandingchildren · 24/09/2018 14:45

she hasnt lived in her house long but she will stand at her window for hours (not that i know for sure as i dont watch her back) but she seems to always be at the window,
a bit like norman bates in psycho.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 24/09/2018 14:45

tablets, spot on and the injection

if she's using all 3 types of flea prevention in one go, that's going to be one hell of a sick dog so I certainly don't think a vet was consulted...

but yes, in reality, fleas could have come from ANYWHERE so your neighbor is a loon. In case there was actually any doubt.

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 24/09/2018 14:48

In her defence was she maybe just looking for a reason to contact you?

Claw001 · 24/09/2018 14:52

Lol like wanting to be flea friends?

mirren3 · 24/09/2018 14:53

You need to write back to her... this will be the thread that keeps giving!! In fact you could write several times, all the above suggestions are brilliant.

PirateWeasel · 24/09/2018 15:00

just trying to contact you

Hm, she'd have to be a complete loon to think this is the way to meet the neighbours socially! In fact, she's a complete loon whichever way you slice this Confused

DarlingNikita · 24/09/2018 15:01

would it be rude to post a note back saying its like eating a tin of beans and knowing what bean made you fart?

PLEASE do this.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 24/09/2018 15:03

If you are treating your dog properly surely it wouldn't get fleas?

This^^. We give our dog monthly medicine to prevent fleas, ticks and heartworm - I think that's pretty standard for dog owners.

So, her dog shouldn't be picking up fleas from anywhere if she's looking after him properly.
