Who the fuck pays £300 for a hairdryer?

Dyson hairdryer

I must live on planet scum with all the Argos types. Seriously, when did it become ok to charge £300 for a hairdryer? Very disappointing James if you're reading this, £50 would be more my price-point. Why can't the less economically advantaged of us benefit from your inventions too?

I dont think its any better than a ghd or parlux at a third of the price.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 23/09/2018 14:52

My friend has one, she's loaded though. I think it's a great hairdryer but didn't know it was that ££££. Not worth it for my short thin hair, but I can see what my friend sees in it as her hair is long and thick.

Me

I fancied one and I bought it

Referring to the poster up thread You can buy a hands free hair dryer
I have one as I can only use one hand due to CP
Look at Disability aids Think Mine was from Complete care shop( No idea how to link, sorry

IloveJudgeJudy · 23/09/2018 15:27

Me, well DH, for Christmas. I love it. The DC all use/d it (until they moved out. They all said they could feel the difference and it's much quicker. It's a different way of styling and you have to get used to it. It's worth it to me. I feel joy every time I use it.

GulliverUnravels · 23/09/2018 15:29

Not me! But I very occasionally pretend I would so I can go get a free wash and blowdry dry "demo" at the Dyson shop on Oxford Street Wink I don't actually notice a difference in what my hair looks / feels like afterwards compared to any oher hairdryer tbh - I just like the luxury of someone else washing and styling my hair, but can't afford to go to a salon! Having tried it put a couple times I'd say definitely not worth the £300

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/09/2018 15:35

The mention of hands-free hairdryers has reminded me of this from the 60s which we were using well into the 80s at my house Grin

I bought mine using Boots advantage points that I have saved for a few years. I wouldn't have spent the cash on it as I felt it was too much much to pay - I wouldn't be without it now.

It dries my thick hair in half the time my old one did, it's less noisy, doesn't burn my hair and has seriously reduced frizz. It's also easier to use than most dryers I have used before as the heavy part of it is in the handle rather than the top part.

KanielOutis · 23/09/2018 15:41

I have one, and will pay for one again when it breaks. If you have hair that behaves well with a £10 hairdryer, great. I don't. It's worth every penny.

haverhill · 23/09/2018 15:42

I have thin hair that dries in a few minutes so there’s no way I’d spend 300 sheets on one.
I get why someone with ‘difficult’ hair might, though.

ThanosSavedMe · 23/09/2018 15:43

So by your logic op top of the range cars should be cheaper so more people couldbuy them, designer clothes, shoes and bags should be cheaper so we could all benefit and look great.

Get real.

If all hairdryers were £300 I would agree with you but there are plenty of cheaper dryers out there that lots of people say do the job as good as a dyson

You come across as bitter and jealous.

furandchandeliers · 23/09/2018 17:03

I bought one after using one at a hotel and I love it.

fussychica · 23/09/2018 17:23

Sounds great as I have thick which I'm shit at styling but no way could I spend £300 on a dryer. With my luck I would spend all that money and my hair would look exactly the same.Grin

Growingboys · 23/09/2018 17:29

I think if you do spend £300 on a hairdryer then you are only ever going to swear it's the best thing ever.

To admit it's basically the same as one ten times the price would be to admit you wasted your money. So you will never read a bad review!

Sparklesandglitter · 23/09/2018 17:39

I have one I love it. It balances really nicely in your hand and isn't heavy. I'll buy another when it dies

topsyanddim · 23/09/2018 18:18

That makes no sense. People leave bad reviews of expensive things all the time. It’s hardly a £10k hairdryer. If you had it for 3 years it’d work out at 27p a day. Many people spend £3 on a coffee a day. Are they all strange too?

I have one, it wasn’t a major layout for me. I like it as it’s light and dries my hair in about 4 minutes making mornings easier. I sometimes find it a bit hot and it makes my hair too straight. There you go honest review.

babydreamer1 · 23/09/2018 18:27

Me! I've had mine for 2 years now, My hair is down to just above my waist and very thick and poofy. My Dyson has cut down drying time by 2 thirds, doesn't damage my hair, makes hair silky, isn't at all noisy and is very ergonomic and easy to use. It is worth every single last penny to me! It's all relative though, if I had short hair or a lower disposable income I wouldn't have bothered.

CarolDanvers · 23/09/2018 18:31

Potentially I would. But I would want to test it first.

MrsChollySawcutt · 23/09/2018 18:31

I'd very happily leave a bad review if I didn't like the dryer. I don't like Dyson and think the hoovers are shite.

Love the hairdryer though...

starzig · 23/09/2018 18:35

He can charge what he likes. It is not his fault you are poor. You are not entitled to the benefit of inventions.

OliviaBonas · 23/09/2018 18:38

I have one. I got it when Boots has triple points. I have long thick hair that takes about an hour a day to sort from start to finish so it’s been worth every penny.

katseyes7 · 23/09/2018 18:42

When l got mine, my hair was waist length. Took four hours to dry on it's own, at least half an hour with an 'ordinary dryer'. With the Dyson l could dry it in an ad break on tv. l just wish l'd had one when l was on early shifts. l could have had an extra half hour in bed!

Abouttoblow · 23/09/2018 18:46

I got one a couple of weeks ago. I had a "big birthday" and my workmates organised a collection and got me one.
I love it! Halves the time it takes to dry my hair and makes it really smooth.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 23/09/2018 19:11

If I had the money I’d buy it. It takes forty minutes to dry my hair, and that’s not blow drying straight it’s just getting it dry.

This apparently is faster and quieter.

But I can’t so I deal with my £30 one which is too hot.

paraffinwax · 23/09/2018 19:13

I dunno. I've got one that was a tenner and is 5 years old. It's ok?

Once I used a friend's GHD one and it was amazing. I actually don't understand how it dried my hair so fast! Feels hard to justify, but if I washed and dried my hair every day it might seem more reasonable!
