Are there usually resident items that are always found in the stores, or is it like a big charity shop where you never know what will be awaiting you?

What should I look out for? I'd like clothes. Good, decent everyday/at home clothes.

Not visited a tx Maxx for yonks.

Matalan throws aren't too bad actually, so at least I can get from there if all else fails.

I love TK maxx. Even though the tiny plus size section is usually filled with dozens of the same thing. I once counted 14 voluminous mustard yellow blouses with grey cuffs.
Last year I went with dd between boxing day and new year and got an opi advent calendar for £8. I love nail polish and that was a bargain.

Actually I picked up a Missoni blanket in TK Maxx a few years ago, and they have some Bronte ones in at the moment, I'd go for it. But if you see one buy it right that minute as it goes fast.

they do amazing bottles of 0 calorie 0 sugar syrups for cocktails 9or drizzling on porridge)

DunkandEggAgain · 22/09/2018 18:06

Oooh nice. I forgot they sell unusual food there. I bet it's even better at or after Christmas time.

I need to keep an eye out for slipper socks. Good ones that don't shrink down to junior size after one regular wash in the machine. My feet are freezing today!

I've just ordered a blue Le Creuset teapot for £10 in the clearance section. It's still for sale at full price on other sites and over £200?! On Amazon. Must be a typo that price.

greendale17 · 22/09/2018 18:11

I didn’t think anyone still shopped there. I visited recently- it is really just rubbish now.

DunkandEggAgain · 22/09/2018 19:07

Woah that's an amazing price. That's like a charity shop treasure find. Well done.

greendale well durrr, of course they do. I doubt its all rubbish. I had a look online just now thanks to the PP and there's much to trawl through. I saw a couple of things that made me go "that's quite nice", though.

I'm still going!

Gloves aren't in yet! I got a lovely pair of touchscreen ones last year but lost one, so I keep checking if gloves are in stock on the off chance they have them again this year.

I prefer to use their website because, in all honesty, it totally depends which branch you go to. There can be huge differences.

I discovered TK Maxx about a year ago having never really been interested previously. For me, TK Maxx is 99.9% junk, but the hidden gems (0.1%) more than make up. When I do go, I tend to just target a few selected departments. I generally avoid the clothing as I can't be bothered to sift through the rails.

Here are my recent gems;

French sole ballet flats. I got them for £30 and they sell for £100+

Lipstick queen lipsticks £5 down from £20.

Osprey clutch bag £15 down from £50.

I quite like the homeware department. I was looking for a fridge storage box for the children's snacks and found the perfect one in TK Maxx.

I also like buying new baby gifts from TK Maxx as they often have really good sets and names brands, cheaply.

AliceRR · 23/09/2018 11:52

I love TK Maxx. It’s good for skincare and beauty. Bags are good. As PP said they do Osprey plus I got a lovely Marc Jacobs bag for £199 recently.

They do a lot of nice branded jumpers and stuff which I like for Xmas gifts.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 23/09/2018 11:54

Towels. Always look in their Bathroom department before buying towels; they do gorgeous ones at ridiculous prices.

Also, suitcases.

It's one of those places you need to look through some tat to find what's good but it's always worth it.

DunkandEggAgain · 23/09/2018 19:18

Towels. Don't say that, the temptation! DH bought a really thick fluffy towel in the January sale last (this) year, it is absolutely gorgeous. We intended to go back for more and completely replace our current stack of towels but as usually happens here, it just never materialised.
I promised myself some clothes though, so I have to absolutely not walk through the homewares or kids section or that'll be it and my money will go to other things.

alicerr I'm not really into bags...I favour those hippie fair trade multicoloured canvas bags most of the time. If I do fancy a leather bag, then I always look for a Moroccon embroidered type bag in a fancy yellow or green. Anything ethnically inspired as I've always been a hippie at heart.
