Aren't those worth more than face value anyway?

I remember the necklace thread, that was brilliant!

TheFluffyHippo · 18/09/2018 02:49

The necklace post reminds me of a time I bought something on eBay from America. Paid for postage as listed. Unfortunately for the seller, postage ended up being a lot more expensive than she’d expected and cost more than the money I paid her for item and P&P combined.

Rather than messaging me to explain the situation and ask if I’d pay the extra, she went on a massive rant in my feedback about how I conned her into getting something for free. She just couldn’t understand that even though she’d not profited, that didn’t mean I’d got away without paying anything Confused

Mumsneck · 18/09/2018 03:09

But even by her logic it would be £1.50 not £1.00. 2 for the price of 1 = 50p. 3 pieces at 50p each.

CanadianJohn · 18/09/2018 03:22

I just checked my coins, would you believe I have EIGHT $1 coins and they all have the same picture... all eight! I thought I was going to be able to sell them for a fortune, but following this lady's logic they are not worth very much at all.

Shampooeeee · 18/09/2018 03:35

Haha that’s hilarious!

zen1 · 18/09/2018 03:37

Hilarious! Usually the Peter Rabbit 50p coins go for 2-3 times their value on eBay. She must have been on a wind-up.

Mumsneck · 18/09/2018 03:42

Is she really old though? She might just be very confused about the logic of collector coins etc she sounds very elderly.

OlennasWimple · 18/09/2018 03:46

Shock Girl

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 18/09/2018 04:02

I doubt she's very old - I don't know any very old/elderly people who say "whatever hun" Grin

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 18/09/2018 04:04

But even by her logic it would be £1.50 not £1.00. 2 for the price of 1 = 50p. 3 pieces at 50p each

Thats why shes talking about bundles - bundles are cheaper so to her the fact there is two peter rabbits means she can only charge has to discount the bundle further.

And to be honest, i kind of understand where shes coming from, although the whatever hun does make me think oh dear hun you aren't understanding it. She isn't seeing the monatry value because she doesn't see them as ordinary coins you can spend in the shops she sees them as equal to the comeritive £5 coins and the old comerative £2 coins. That have no monarty value that their purely collectors items. She doesn't realise that some one is seeing 4 50ps and adding it up to £2 shes goong oh i cant sell these items for as much because theirs a double.

Say their were porcalin figures not coins and she had 3 peter rabbits and 1 jeremy fishers. You wouldnt go bit theres 4 of them i'll gove you four quid you'd actally go oh will you take £2 the lot because theres doubles.

Its the whatever hun that makes it funny because shes completely not understanding the point.

But also who evers pointing out the monarty value is also a bit silly because they dont seem to realise their collectors items. And as some one has said go for quite a lot in collectors markets

What a nasty thread.

mummabearfourbabybears · 18/09/2018 06:44

Am I over sensitive?. I didn't find it funny at all. I just feel really sorry for that poor lady Sad

BirthdayKake · 18/09/2018 06:48

I think it's obviously a joke.

Also, the majority of the Peter Rabbit coins are worth fuck all, sadly :(

SouthWestmom · 18/09/2018 06:57

Yeah disappointingly they are pretty much face value. I've downloaded an app to keep track of my collection of 50ps and they are worth at most £1 for some.

Katinkka · 18/09/2018 07:20

What app is that? I collect 50ps

ShotsFired · 18/09/2018 07:21

My ex made a few quid when I happened to spot a Jemima Puddleduck coin in his change right after just happening to read an article in the news.

He had several other "rare" ones just hanging about too, so did very well!

I love facebook selling pages. There is just so much hunnery.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 18/09/2018 07:22

serious dose of baby brain!

Baby brain my arse - serious case of being thick. There's a lot of it around.

Holidayshopping · 18/09/2018 07:24

I don’t believe anyone is that stupid-surely she is just taking the piss.

HPLikecraft · 18/09/2018 07:32

But also who evers pointing out the monarty value is also a bit silly because they dont seem to realise their collectors items

No, they're not. They're pointing out to the seller that the coins can't be worth any less than their monetary value. They have a face value of £2 so are worth at least that, regardless if collectability.

HPLikecraft · 18/09/2018 07:32

*of

Littlechocola · 18/09/2018 07:33

Yes but they are Peter rabbit!

Foxen · 18/09/2018 07:58

I keep going over the necklace example upthread in my tired mind...

"We'll I've given you £100...and a hundred pound necklace...

I know, I know, but....

SouthWestmom · 18/09/2018 08:00

Check your change - costs £3.99 to upgrade to get the value.

Jellyonawonkyplate · 18/09/2018 08:10

Problem is he isn't seeing it as legal tender, she's just thinking about the collection. She may not even realise it's legal tender Confused
