what does gin taste like?

I don't drink but used to in my wild youth.

I'm curious about the obsession of gin. but have never had one.
does it take like other spirits?

Juniper berry flavoured vodka. Perfumey.

Doesn't taste like other spirits, no. It can take a while to get used to, some people find it a bit harsh. It's yummy mixed with bitter lemon.

Nasty oily cack. Blurghh. Horrid.

I like pink gin ... I find normal gin quite bitter

I dont like plain gin but I love pink gin with lemonade or cream soda. It's so sweet and fruity. Violet gin and tonic is also very fruity but has a bit of a kick to it. It's nice x

It’s vodka with aromatics, so taste varies a lot depending on recipe. But...perfumey. Nicer than that sounds .

Tastes like drinking perfume.

I agree with the perfume and miscellaneous foliage comments! It's horrible stuff imo...don't get the hype.

Cold and mineral.

Juniper mostly. No matter what they say it's flavoured with. I love Gordons, I'm not bothered about the fancy new ones.

What I'd imagine petrol tastes like, yuck.

I recently tried pink Gordon's as I was curious what it was like (everyone seemed to love pink gin). I hate tonic so tried it with fentimans pink lemonade. Absolutely love it. Also love it with normal lemonade. Only get the pink lemonade for special occasions as you only get 3 drinks per bottle, and the bottles are £2 each.
Tried some other pink gins but hated them. I'll stick to my pink Gordon's and lemonade.

I think it tastes quite bushy. I generally have loads of lime with it but I’m not a particularly sophisticated drinker.

Love this thread. Everyone I know is obsessed with gin whereas I think it tastes of arse and I would actually much rather watch paint dry than drink it

Gin tastes & smells like vodka that has been infused with juniper, citrus and fragrant herbs. Neat, it’s not great. With tonic, it’s delicious.
